Hi guys, I picked up the raggy second hand for a steal. Using it with Abyss/k7xx and finding it pretty good (it is on the thin side). The SE is a bit lacking and I do not like it with speakers.
I have a vintage luxman l80 that I think leaves the Ragnarok for dead.
My other big issue with the rag is the heat, it gets so bloody hot.

So my question is. Since I like the thicker bassier sound the luxman gives me, what totl amp should I get to replace the rag? Nothing I've heard from woo or cavalli interest me.
My DAC is the sfd-1 mk ii SE+

    Edit: Confusing sentence (Thanks zonto)

    This is also Xecuter.

The luxman l80 doesn't really have a great sound stage, distortion is a bit too extreme as well.

I also want a second amp to replace the rag because of the heat issue and the fact that I don't like it.

Can you use a pre-amp with the ragnarok when it is in headphone mode? I want to bipass the internal pre. Thanks

The pre-amp out on Ragnarok is not a separate circuit. There is no "bypass". You can disable the pre-amp outs via the front panel ("headphone only mode") or leave them unplugged.

Any idea why this is the case? I thought it might be because the amp would then be operating outside of Class A (Class A biased to roughly 4 watts), but per the FAQ on the website it looks like all speaker output is Class A/B and only the headphone out operates in Class A up to 4 watts.

EDIT: Schiit confirmed via email that it operates in Class A for 4 watts into headphones and a similar amount for speakers. This is not dependent on the gain setting.
