Well the dac chip itself is only a $2 part, so this seems to me like a very smart idea - a single pcb can now be used for digital only, analog only or digital and analog versions combined. If I understand correctly, fitting the dac chip also helps ensure driver compatibility with Hifiberry Dac boards even if you are only looking for digital out. This looks like a very useful board indeed.

I sent an email to @Michael Kelly to ask if there were any news. He said that the first batch of PCBs is practically ready but currently he's struggling with transition of the firm to the new building.
In "the next few weeks" the dummy heads should receive the early boards.

Still holding off on purchasing a Digi+ Pro board because I think this will be better.

    I'm in the same boat...
Do we know the retail price of this board and when it's expected to ship?

    Thank you!

Cool looking project! +1 for early adoption on this one. If you need it testing in the presence of the UK's finest 240V, 50Hz mains, just let me know :D

Wow just found out about this board. Specs look solid, definitely interested!

I'm looking to replace my headless Mac Mini / USB DAC setup (unhappy centipede owner) with a Raspberry pi solution and was initially looking at the Digi+ Pro – but the 503SPD2 with BNC would be just perfect.

    Good luck with the project!

    Gentlemen,
We have finally overcome our serious logistics issues (ie new building lacked working 3-PH power for our machines). All is now working and we have a small number of the new 502DAC2 combo board. I am looking to send out 4-6 units for test and feedback. It is key that you be willing and able to test the analog DAC and optical SPDIF as well as the AES/EBU balanced and Coax. Note that we put a female XLR connector for the balanced and we have been informed that is not the way to do it. Final version will have male (if you all agree that's what way to go), but you will need some sort of gender changer if you can't use the female.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Yes, the norm for AES is male for output, female for input.

    He's Back! :p

@Michael Kelly Count me in as interested in a test board!

What Dac chip are you using? Also still the WM8804 for spdif?

    Thanks!

We are using the PCM5122. The board is compatible with the Hifiberry DAC PRO. This will run the PCM5122 in master mode with clock selection. The WM8804 is slaved off this.

As before all who are interested send me an email to [email protected] with "502DAC testing" in the subject. Please tell me about your setup and other equipment.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

    Cheers,
    Michael

These first units have the female so you're all good.

    Cheers,
    Michael

@Michael Kelly I'd love to help with testing, I have pi2 (with linear 5v), Schiit Gungnir Multibit and Audiolab MDAC,no AES/EBU but all the other inputs.

I'm definitely interested as a customer, looking forward to seeing how the testing progresses.

Wow... there are so many features on a single board, it looks amazing
I wonder if the price will still be the same you announced.

PS - +1 on the male aes\ebu. Last time I had to reterminate my cable to test aes\ebu.
