Occurred to me that one of the most interesting series' of books I've loved for a while hasn't (as far as I've seen) been mentioned.

Been a Yuge fan for years now, pretty much something for everyone and really great gifts for anybody who loves music. One of my favorites (that i tend to give to folks unfamiliar with the series) is this one:

so f'ing good. Another great one is the 33 1/3 on Paul's Boutique. Fascinating!!!

anyhow, if it feels good, how 'bout a thread about the stupid books we read about the music we listen to?

A slice of autobiography from one of music's more unreliable narrators- but this time mostly sticking to fact:

It almost makes some sort of sense, scary.

    More overtly fictional:

It's.. more about a time and and a place, but intersecting heavily with music. Cracking read if dialect doesn't put you off.

Non-fiction and compulsive reading. Lots of tales of the effects of music on the brain, especially with various pathologies or injuries. The sections on music and dementia are simply wonderful.

Music in the castle of heaven is an incredibly compelling read.
