Recs for 2-3 year old Android flagship phones desired EDIT: or upper midrange phones.

Preparing for the day when one or both of my LG G7s bite the dust.

Wants are Android 11 or higher, decent pixel density and outdoor brightness on the screen with good Gorilla level or similar, and decent IPX rating. Headphone jack would be great. Not too concerned about the cameras as long as decent. GSM with bands that work well with T-Mobile here in the US. And not too bloated OS overlay would be nice.

    I
considered new phones in the entry level space like the Motos, but the pixel density is about half what I already have, the IPX rating worse and knockoff glass. The 1 & 2 year old flagships seem to be way up in price due to the world wide chip shortage and price increases at manufacturing time. Only now is it getting better.

And yea, the target price is under $200. Thanks for any ideas you can shoot my way.

If you're not against android/google pixel the 6a is $299 at best buy now. Probably be even less soon. For a new phone $299 is great, not exactly 200 but a great deal. Headphone jack is not a deal breaker should come with a dongle I've been exclusively using that on my last 2 phone for audio in the car for years now. Thought it sucked at first, doesn't really matter after the fact. Plus there's good cheap USB C to 3.5mm dongles that sound better than headphone jacks on phones, android ones anyway.

Have you heard the Sammy vs something like the Creative SXFI? I wish I never sold mine.

Nope sorry, heard Dragonfly Cobalt though which i also like less than the Samsung. For €15 you can’t go wrong, next step up is probably the Qudelix 5k for Bluetooth and dsp stuff. Using that one and it does not sound like Bluetooth, it’s really good.

I owned the DF black and heard the red, pretty poor devices.

Google Fi is giving away a free Pixel 6a if you switch to their service. I moved at the end of last year from Chicago to a smaller city and had horrible coverage with our old provider, we switched to Fi for less money, got a free phone, and coverage is better, but still shit compared to Chicago. I think they do a 7 day free trial of their service if you want to check out coverage in your area.

That's a nice phone, but they cannot compete with my $10 a month from T-Mobile.
