Within Roon the library "Focus" tooltip provides a surprisingly granular look into your music library. After digging into my own I saw some interesting trends, and a heavy emphasis on late 2000's era pop/rock, something that doesn't match well to my listening behavior these days. I currently listen to the tail distributions of this library, which was interesting to realize.
I also saw some glaring gaps in my library particularly with electronic music, a genre I listen to frequently but evidently have little in terms of breadth.
Seeing this type of breakdown was helpful as I try and expand my library and cover more blind-spots in terms of music released before the mid 1990's.

I'd be fascinated to see similar breakdowns if anyone would like to share them/how this overlaps with current listening behaviors. I suspect there are quite a few Roon users here.

Mods, please feel free to nuke this if it belongs elsewhere or is too niche.

Cool idea, would be fun to see different users' data given differing demographics and varying listening preferences

Here is my album focus data from the perspective of a mid-20's dude who doesn't listen to any classical music or jazz, lately been into modern synth/electro pop and contemporary R&B

Apparently out of my Top 50 Most Played Albums, 45 of them were released from 2015-2019, and earliest one is from 2009

This adds motivation to get fresh blood into my library; this kind of uptick in recent releases is a goal for me. I admit I've been relying a lot on streaming platforms in the past few years, which is why my recent additions have slowed (no excuse).

Your breakdown is also much less homogeneous, another thing I'd like to address about my own library.

This is really interesting. The genre tags can wash out a lot of detail. What's in that "other" category? It's substantial!

Also interesting to see "light" vs "dark" mode users :)

I recently started fresh with Roon by moving the server component downstairs, I think that's why my "Added" distribution is so weird.

I'm noticing that my library distribution is very "normal" (in shape), very homogeneous, and tightly grouped (only music from my lifetime basically)!

You can read my approximate coming of age years on this graph, and I suspect you could do this with a few others.

Huh. I really need more variety.
