Yes it's for the remote sensor. They are all like that.

I think I can see the sensor but it's well below the opening, not a big deal as long as it works.

Thanks guys. Pulled the trigger on a B-stock Bifrost 2 earlier today and going to have it forwarded through MyUS. Hopefully I am able to evade the high import duty.

I believe there is a declaration of value attached to the shipping label, at least when shipped to Canada

I fired up my Bifrost 2 for the first time tonight. Yep ... it was worth the 1.5 month wait. Its too early to give detailed impressions but wow, this thing slams. Schiit strikes again. I'll post a review in a few days but this little guy is a keeper. Jason and Mike should be incredibly proud of how much SQ they have packed into a $700 DAC.

Anyone have a Bifrost 2 you don't use all the time who would be willing to let me borrow it for a few days? I still haven't heard one in my own setup and waited too long to pull the trigger on one so they're out of stock at Schiit.

Or... does @schiit have a Bifrost 2 available for listening at the Schiitr? If so, I might make a trek up there to hear it and the Modius.

Does anyone's BF2's relay click when they turn off their amp? I'm sure mine didn't used to, but has started doing it recently.

I got a b-stock Bifrost, yesterday. I unplugged a Schiit Modi 2 Uber, which wasn't bad. The BF2 is from another planet, comparatively. It is so quiet, I found myself looking up between songs to make sure I was still streaming. Bass is so much better, it is like the first time you used a subwoofer. Mids are open and detailed. No blurry highs, either. I like this toy! Using with modded Fostex RP50 and unmodded Drop Senn. 6xx. Haven't tried it with my speakers yet.

Mine has done that but not all the time. I think it happens if I turn the BF2 off when its still connected to my laptop. My relay sometimes clicks between songs in the same album as well.

If you're using SPDIF, that's not unexpected. The relay clicks to mute the audio output when the DAC loses its lock on the SPDIF signal, and then it clicks again to enable the output when the lock is regained. Some sources turn off their SPDIF output between songs, so you get that click.

Using the Bifrost's USB input instead of SPDIF should stop the clicking. Or if your player is a Windows machine, there's a little open-source program here that's supposed to keep the SPDIF link continuously open by playing silence whenever no other software is playing music. No personal experience with it, so I can't comment on its suitability or effectiveness: https://github.com/handruin/spdif-ka/releases/tag/v1.4.0

I am using S/PDIF, and it clicks when the source turns on and off or changes sample/bit rate. That's normal. But I'm talking about the output end. Turning my amp off shouldn't have any effect on the relay AFAIK. Doesn't happen when I turn it on. This is with SW51. I'll try the NBM when I get home later.

Since adding the DEQ2496, it's clicking 2x (instead of just once) when I turn that on. I assume there's a sample rate change or something going on there when the DEQ boots up.

Yes. Mine does it whenever I turn off anything plugged into the same power strip

Probably the amp turning on/off having some kind of an effect on the source connected to the Bifrost

The clicky relay is a little finicky for sure. It doesn't really bother me though. As long as you are getting sound out of it, it should be working fine.

Did a test anyway just out of curiosity. I've only been using it through USB and Qobuz. It clicks when I plug the USB cable into my laptop. It clicks whenever I switch to an album in Qobuz that has a different sample rate. It clicks when the BF2 is turned off but still plugged into my laptop. It clicks when disconnected from my laptop. It sometimes clicks when is disable my wifi in the middle of a stream.

I wasn't able to reproduce the click between songs in an album so I guess that was a fluke. It also doesn't click when my amp is shut off.
