Schiit Byygy Dac Just Landed

Just do both b and c, so I can vicariously and all that!!

 

Sorry if I am wrong on this but does this mean that a fully upgraded Byygy and one with just the singular card would sound the same if not using usb? I a, weird and have no use for usb at all.

 

Unknown about sound yet, but Byggy is not just USB (Unison 384), it is also a new SPDIF/AES/Toslink etc. digital input board with "programmable oscillators," Forkbeard, and a new "high capacity" DSP card, in a Yggdrasil+ chassis.

It's not being said explicitly by Schiit yet, but the SPDIF board ("programmable oscillators"), Unison 384 board, and a "high capacity" DSP upgrade all point toward the non-Singular card stuff aligning with accommodating higher sample rates ("up to DXD"), but there's also other hints you can glean from Jason's chapter on Gungnir 2:

 

Well, curiosity got the best of me, and I'm in for a Byggy. Looking forward to getting a Schiit DAC back in the house, since MIB remains my favorite DAC I've owned/heard.

Will share my impressions vs. A1/A2/MIB, along with Gungnir 2, can also add comparisons to the Wavelight, Chord Hugo TT2+M-scaler, and Laiv Harmony if anyone is curious. Been on a long road that led me right back to Schiit.

 

Would love to hear about that journey. Have not heard comparisons with the Laiv Harmony which is FOTM.

I put in a deposit for the full Byggy upgrade. Because I have a GS+, it was only $500 more than the card upgrade by itself and I felt like the additional features were worth that much.
