The Modi Multibit will trump the 4490 in the Fulla 2, and the Magni 2U will have bags more power (260mW into 300 ohms vs 40mW). That's the short answer.

    Here's the longer answer:

If you're going to pay Magni 2U amounts of money, you might find it worth stretching a tiny bit more to the Vali 2 (and $20 or so for a nice aftermarket tube). It will still be a neat little stack with the Modi Multibit, but give you a better sound- the highs won't be as steely/hot, and the staging will be a bit nicer, plus the dynamics won't be quite as squashed.

The Fulla 2 is fine if you're just looking for something straightforward, transportable and inexpensive, though. It's way better than plugging into most laptop headphone outs. It's remarkable for something limited to 500mA in. I don't know you, and if you're doing nervous initial toe dipping or not. If you are, then the Fulla 2 is a great value start. If you feel like stretching to a little stack, then yes, the Modi Multibit and Vali 2 will be noticably better.

I'm not sure I'd bother with the Magni 2U, personally. (Full disclosure- I used to own one.. it's perfectly competent, but unremarkable.)

Lol, I'm not registered on Reddit, the only time I've been there is to get info for Elite Dangerous which I started playing earlier this year. Can't speak for GUTB though.

As for being banned from HF, that's certainly not the case - I have an active account over there. In fact, I posted my question there as well, in the hope of getting as much info as I could. However, it seems the replies I got there reinforced the reason I came here in the first place, last year, i.e. the signal to noise ratio is much better here, so the chances of getting useful info are much higher :).

Thanks for the advice. I did some reading on the Vali 2, and ended up going with that as it seems to be more well regarded than the Magni. Also went with the Modi Multibit.

Oh good stuff, I hope you enjoy them! That's a great (and very cute) setup for the money.

Totally agree. My exact desktop setup (including the hd600, though I have a few others as well). My financial situation will prevent any gear juggling for the forseeable future, but I'm not sure I could do better without spending 3 or more times more money anyway, so I'm pretty content audio-wise. Good time to be a poverty-stricken audio enthusiast I guess.

Fulla 2 is like MM stack above with one notch less on black, attack, and macro.

GOV2 just edges Fulla 2 overall, but things are so close that it ultimately comes down to tonal presentation and usability. GOV2 has a lusher sound (FRM filter). But the volume knob on Fulla 2 is pure win.

I have not tried the Fulla 2 with the extra USB power port, which I imagine might improve things.

The Fulla 2 does need a little bit of time to warm up, otherwise it sounds lean and scratchy. Once warmed up, the sound is warmer and more full bodied.

Have you tried it with the external charger with the Pixel XL? If so, did the phone still say that it was providing power, and lose battery quickly?

Because, plugged into a 5V/2A wall charger, the Fulla 2 tells my Macbook that it's requesting 0mA, so presumably it's also telling my Nexus 6P that, but the phone still insists that it's providing power, and loses battery quick enough that it's clearly not lying, so I'm not sure if there's an Android setting I need to change somewhere, if it's a USB-C weirdness, or what.

Does the Fulla 2 have the great synergy with the HD650s that the GOV2 has?

GOV2 still has the advantage when using its balanced outs. Fulla 2 has closed the gap quite a bit from the Fulla.

GO2A balanced or SE is signficantly better. SE was improved with the 2A to bring it closer to balanced and new firmware improves it more.

    That knob tho.

Does the V2+ differ from the 2A for the outputs? I recall the 2A was supposed to improve the GOV2 to be like the V2+.

V2+ metal version, GO2PRO and GO2A are similar in implementation. Obviously the V2+ and GO2Pro have a battery as well.

So probably a dumb question but for the Fulla 2, what should Windows (10) sample rate and bit depth be set to if listening to Tidal Hifi exclusively? I've got it at 24 bit, 44100 Hz (studio quality) and it sounds awesome but I was wondering if that's the proper selection? I also have "disable all enhancements checked". Anything else i'm missing? For master quality recording do I want 24/96 selected?

As it's meant to be plug and play, you don't need to change any settings.
