Yup! The Fulla-2 uses switching regulator to provide +/-5V from the 5V to GND USB supply.

I just bought this for one of my friends to use with his headphones, powered speakers and as a dac and preamp to his main passive speaker setup. Assuming it works for all these use cases it is a pretty nifty entry into audio.

I cannot in good faith recommend anyone buy the Modi 4490 or magni 2 anymore. It appears to be working right out of my Pixel XL also with no external charger. More to come once I can listen more seriously.

I just want one of the bass knobs. :punk: Before I get the smart ass answers, let me help you...."buy the fulla 2 and the BAK is free."

Would that work well with the PortaPros, as a dirt-cheap entry-level system for family & friends, and as a good excuse for Christmas gifts?

I would imagine that would be quite the entry level system. I run KSC-75s and KSC-35s straight from an iPad and they sound great. I've been tempted to get a Fulla 2 just for the office to run with the Koss'

It really looks like they're squeezing very close to everything from the 0.5A supply with the Fulla 2. Even just as an object lesson of building to within those limitations, it's appealing- yet more cool engineering from Schiit. I ended up ordering two- one for a gift, and one to play with for myself. It looks like it might deserve to become the new normal for entry level, so having a play with one is pretty much irresistible.

Yeah, I informally compared the power output specs of Fulla2 to a bunch of other small dac/amps in this category, like the Fiio portables, etc. This thing seems to be putting out the most power, for a 0.5 amp input, of everything I looked at.

This looks like a great option for folks whose work space is a cubicle. And I know exactly how to put together a system using an iOS device as a source.

For those of us who are totally ignorant about the entire Android ecosystem ... are there micro-to-micro USB OTG cables out there that one could use to hook up an Android phone or table to Fulla 2?

I'd say this is it. The fulla 2 is the perfect entry level system. If I was new to the hobby with a fixed budget, I'd get a used HD600/650/6XX or the noble X and one of these as a first purchase after the RE-00 or portapro straight out of my phone until I could afford the exact transducer I wanted and build a system around it. It's hard not like this thing.

For those curious, it's working straight out of the moto g4 play, the s7 edge, and the Pixel XL I mentioned. It needs external power with my iPad pro.

Actually, the $50 g4 play (on sale for the verizon variant), $50 200GB microSD card (BF sale), $5 OTG cable, $100 fulla 2, and modded HD650 (assuming you can get a $200 HD6XX) make a ridiculous little rig. Sub in an rpi or other suitably cheap machine in for the G4 play.

Please don't buy this for the portapro/sportspeople/ksc-75/ksc-35. Buy better transducers with the $100. This is a bad purchase for you unless you're using better headphones already.

Rule of thumb: spend your money on the transducer first. Usually you want to use any money you have to upgrade until you get to the HD6XX+ stage then you should consider upstream gear.

    Yup

I ordered one because Schiit created the ultimate affordable nightstand iPhone 7-Tidal system. I plan to use HD650 or TH-X00. Excellent work @schiit

@zerodeefex Have you had a chance to check for hiss with more sensitive iems? I'll probably pick up one either way... but that would seal the deal.

From what I can tell, this product is truly unique, unlike the original Fulla. The closest competition is the Micca Origen+, which lacks the auxiliary USB power in favor of a 5V DC adapter, which is not included (!).

@zerodeefex How's the battery drain when hooked up to the S7e? If the drain is too much, I'd be tempted to hunt down a little Anker portable battery pack and split out the USB power, if possible.
