One can surmise that because they started labeling all of the serial numbers for Yggdrasil A2 to start with a B, they do the same with a Gungnir Multibit analog upgrade. After the giant snafu with the analog 2 upgrade for Yggdrasil, I'm not surprised that they have not, or will ever, announce the same for Gungnir Multibit. The spoiled Yggdrasil shitheads caused such a stir, I wouldn't want to go through that again if I were Jason either.

That's assuming Gungnir Multibit actually got an analog 2 upgrade.

The only way to tell would be to compare photographs of the PCB between a serial number 0 and serial number B Gungnir Multibit.

I suppose one could surmise that, and it would certainly be to my benefit if it were true. I also remember all the gnashing of teeth (mostly over on the darkside rather than here if memory serves, and it often doesn't) when the update to Yggdrasil was announced. But the lack of any indication, unless I missed it, or even a hint, to that effect from the principals at Schiit leaves me dubious and unwilling to speculate to that effect. But if it happened and I missed out, heads will roll. I will sue.

Sue for what. I'd really love to hear an actual legal argument that one might have for suing them.

Were you harmed by silently receiving a better product, if that indeed actually happened? No.

Did you receive what was advertised? Yes. They don't delve into the specifications or architecture of the analog section on their site or marketing materials, so good luck proving you were lied to in any way.

Seriously, it's that kind of "I will sue" bullshit which leads to us not having nice things.

Well, I usually only laugh at funny things. It really didn't seem like you were going for funny with that post.

Apparently I'm just not a funny guy. I'm way too busy enjoying music from my Gungnir Multibit to worry about this shit. I don't care enough to even open the thing up to compare to the "A" model if I had one sitting next to me. At least I'm laughing.

FWIW I was told at Axpona by the “schiit guy” that there would not be an official announcement or upgrade on the new Gungnir Multibit board because they were very unhappy with how that all worked out on the Yggdrasil. I was also told that I had nothing to worry about had I purchased a Gungnir Multibit in the last month or two.

So there is no confirmation or denial. I'm sure IF it happens we'd catch on sooner or later.

I thought I had read they would in the future plan to space out upgrades greater than 6 months or whatever apart (Gen5 USB -> A2?)

Modular/Upgradable components is what they've been selling from the start so I don't see why they would obscure any new upgrades they could be pushing.

Certainly not the first time I have been misunderstood. I was actually kind of pissed that Schiit gave away the Yggdrasil A2 upgrade to the guy who who pissed and moaned so loudly on HF about how he "should've" gotten the upgraded version because of when he bought his, even though it hadn't even been announced yet. I do find it amusing how twisted up people get about this stuff though. Very happy with my Gungnir Multibit's sound regardless of what version is inside it.

Certainly a serious bit o' kit, but it's just audio, after all.

It's hard to believe Gungnir Multibit B series is a change of the same magnitude as Yggdrasil A2. They rolled it about the same time with Yggdrasil A2, yet anounced the upgrade only for Yggdrasil. What was their plan, in case there would be no shitstorm with Yggdrasil? Announce 2 months later: "hey guys, we actually upgraded Gungnir Multibit at the same time but didn't tell you". I suspect (hope...) it was a more conservative change with elements from Yggdrasil A2.

As regards to a Gungnir Multibit “silent” upgrade, pardon the pun, but we really don’t know Shit. Until we can get a new Gungnir Multibit and a upgraded Gungnir Multibit DS in the same room we won’t know if they did any analog upgrade. I’m guessing they didn’t do an upgrade to the Gungnir Multibit, as I haven’t seen anyone posting that they hear differences between them. Unless I missed something.

I would be hacked off too if I paid for a product, and a week later, or a month, or maybe a bit further out, the same $'s would have gotten me an upgrade, but...

Also I sent my Bifrost back for an upgrade, and my Yggdrasil A2 is sitting over at Schitt now, waiting to be upgraded to Analog 2 + Gen 5, and I paid for Eitr too. $900 in total to upgrade a $2200 product, but in return I get a new Analog board, replacement DACs, and a Gen5 board, plus QA and testing...

Put your money where your mouth is. I would much rather buy from a company that offers me upgrades than the alternative of starting over, and selling what I have.

Please keep offering upgrades Schiit. It's so much better than obsolete products.
