Too hard to do. Not really that many trolls or shit posters from new members. Worried more about some existing members TBH.

I'm also very pleased with my Freya S. I'm new here, but have been into HighEnd since 1980.

Started my Schiit journey in may of 2012 when I bought a Valhalla and a Bifrost.

I had a Saga Original, but moved up to a Freya Original. The Saga's tube section did nothing tubey at all. The Freya tube section added a distortion that bugged me. The Freya S is F-ing Fantastic! In Nexus mode all I hear is positive. Love it!

I've got a question for ya all. My DAC(ares), Amps and now Freya, have balanced in/outs.

What's the opinion of going balance over single ended? Any sonic benefits?

    Thanks.

More different than ‘benefit’. Try it and see what you like more.

Subjectively, when I switched from using my Yggdrasil’s single ended outputs to its balanced outputs I noticed the sound cleaned up a bit and the noise rejection was better (much less audible hum when no music was playing and I turned up the volume).

Update, Got some cheap XLR cables off Amazon. The difference is hugh! Will be ordering some high quality xlr's soon(and returning the junk cables).

I guess the two best choices would be Canare quad or Mogami quad. The Canare are $52. for a set of 5ft x4, and the Mogami cost $26. each. I think I'll go with the Canare, unless some of you have heard both, and favor one over the other?

I'm glad you're finding success, but this thread is not your personal advice thread. Please review the new member materials: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/new-members-introduce-yourself.17/. Once you've done so and introduced yourself:

I thought forums were for giving and getting advice. Also, it's not my personal advice. Future viewers may also benefit from the post.
FYI, I did read your links, and there was no info on both types of cables.

I guess the super best audio friends are not too friendly.:(

No. Threads are not-free-for-all's here - taking this one about Freya off in a cable direction is against the house rules. You just walked into the community, broke the rules, and after being gently redirected to the appropriate threads you cry that SBAF is not friendly...you can't be serious. Admit you made a mistake and stay, or don't and move on to some other forum...

I guess that makes two of us, as your post is even less about pre amps. You should have sent me a message.

    Correct.

Next step is to carefully figure out a set of behavioral patterns -- to whom this forum is friendly, and to whom not. Then mimic the former, and never behave like the latter.

    Good luck.

That's fine. The cultural practice here for what to do in this situation is as follows:
    • Find a relevant link and follow-up. For example, the cable thread I started would have been appropriate.
    • If a question on what is better or what to get, use one of the advice threads. We can do a better job highlighting where they are (on my to do list).
    • Get the stuff yourself and do a well written write-up. Even if 50% disagree with you, you will at least earn my respect.
    • Try to post less often or wait until you have a sufficient quantity of ideas. It's a forum. Treat it like a forum, not Discord.
    • People who have been around a while or generate content can break "rules", have more latitude in stupidity.

Again, my fault. I've been meaning to add something crucial:

Super Best Audio Friends (except you are not one of them).

The cheap shit sold on Amazon is garbage (they actually measure with worse SINAD on my AverLAB). The well known name brands are good. The Amazon branded cables are good. However, Amazon's business practices are super questionable. They reverse engineer cables from their popular sellers to make their own house brand. Read some WSJ articles on Amazon's shady practices.
