Do people say "yote-un-heim" when they say it to themselves? And what for short, "yote"? I admit I always say Jot with a "J", which is certainly wrong.

Yeah I say "yote-un-heim" to myself and jot/jodie for short. I think of it with the phono option as "jono".

@purr1n I think you mentioned somewhere that you have a new Jot in house?! Any impressions?

Start here, Marv compared the “fresh off the line” Jot with the THX AAA Massdrop amp.

Was there a consensus on the silent revision question?

After a 20-month wait (first heard at Pasadena meet in July 2016), multibit Jot on order. Bye-bye Concero and Liquid Carbon. Now the question is whether to replace 8-½ year old 800. 800S, Clear, Massdrop Noble Kaiser Encore, or something else?

Just got my Jomby. Still warming it up and burning it in. Out of the box, I'm glad that the treble isn't anywhere close to too hot. Not sure if there was a revision, as some allege, or if it was the old AKM DAC causing it. The Jomby as a single box unit sounds very organic with my Clears. Glad to have gotten a single box solution. Very interested to see how the Holo Audio Cyan compares.

I’ve had the Jot with the OG dac for some time. Is there confirmation of a silent revision? Tempted to buy a new Jot with the multibit module.

Check the board version number, if you look through the grill in the back right corner you should be able to see it on the board in white letters.

My Jot is about a year old and I recall it was a v1.0.

Just picked up a used Saga and running a Bifrost Multibit->Saga->Jot->LCD-X with a decent NOS tube and really really enjoying it!

The Saga + tube buffer adds some magic that makes listening so addictive!

I usually use a gen 5 Bifrost Multibit, but I spent a bit of time recently listening to the original ak4490 dac module. Contrary to some other opinions, I think it's great. I dont have any trouble with treble glare, and generally it sounds pretty clear and resolving. Bifrost Multibit has better holographic imaging.

I don't know that I would go so far as to say great, but I think it is more than serviceable, and better than most here seem to think it is. Where it can be lacking vs. a modi multibit is mostly in terms of spatial info, especially soundstage and instrument placement/separation. This to me is the biggest difference between d/s and multibit dacs anyway, so was what I expected. For a one-box solution at it's pricepoint, I think it is pretty good. Love the amp section btw.

It's tempting to buy another Jotunheim just to see if they actually silently revised it without incrementing the board number. I've always though it sounded a tad treble hot and dry.

Maybe it's an old man amp.

Did anyone get the MB module for the Jot/Lyr3?

I went to install one into my Jot and ti's really loose/unstable towards the rear of the case. Is it supposed to come with a mounting bracket for the rear of the case?

I got a new Jot + MB module pre-installed and have definitely noticed a lot of give as I plug in the usb. The entire module pushes a bit inwards before the usb connector is completely in, and springs back as i let go. I've been careful to be as gentle as I can with it, but it feels a little sketchy. I don't know if this is the same issue you're noticing.

Thankfully, I shouldn't be unplugging/replugging my Jot too often. And if it becomes a problem... there's always that 5 year warranty.

I got my Jotunheim with phono module a month ago. I had been using Schiit's Ragnarok amp but I upgraded to active studio monitors and didn't need to drive speakers any more. I wanted to use an amp with balanced preamp and headphone outputs just like the Ragnarok so the Jotunheim slotted in perfectly.

I also wanted to upgrade my phono preamp and reduce clutter as I'd been using the ps audio sprout's phono preamp and plugging it into the Ragnarok to utilise the balanced outs into my monitors.

I needed to sell the Ragnarok in order to buy the Jotunheim so unfortunately I was unable to compare the two directly back and forth. My initial thoughts of the Jot out of the box were that it's much smaller and lighter than the Ragnarok. Both are solidly built and I like the input/gain switches on the front of the Jot more than buttons you have to press quickly or hold down on the front of the Ragnarok - it's just clear and simple. When I flick the gain switch on the Jot with my monitors turned on there is an audible clunk but the Ragnarok always muted when changing gain.

The volume dial on the Jot is solid with more resistance and it's fine but I miss the smoother feel and little clicking sounds of the Ragnarok's volume dial. Also I'd love it if both had a remote for volume control - I would have paid the extra money no worries.

Before purchasing the Jot I couldn't find much info about its preamp outs especially compared to the Ragnarok's so I emailed Schiit to ask if there was a difference in quality. The reply was that the Jot would be a drop in replacement, more neutral/ less warm, it may suffer a bit in detail performance but for my setup not worse sounding just different.

After a month of use I haven't detected any lack of detail with the Jot. When I first started using it the first thing that stood out compared to the Ragnarok was the amount of strong, clear bass coming through my monitors. After a couple of days of music and movies the bass was bugging me as it was a little overpowering. So I turned down the level on my sub and that's been the biggest difference for me between the preamp output of the Ragnarok and the Jotunheim.

I've been thoroughly enjoying using the Jotunheim and I'm well pleased with it as a drop in replacement for the Ragnarok. I haven't had time to listen to much vinyl yet but the phono module is excellent.

Multibit Jot (Jomby?) en casa. Fits neatly under Apple monitor.

Giving it at least 48 (and maybe 100) hours of burn-in before starting to listen.

I love the Jot form factor and is about perfect for an all-in-one desktop solution. Are you concerned at all about the heat coming off of it affecting the monitor? I'm hesitant to put it under my laptop as it will just cook the laptop above.

Not very much. The way Jot and the monitor sit relative to each other on the desktop, the top and right grilles vent into several feet of open air. I don’t notice (at least not so far) Jot radiating as much heat as a tube amp.

As long as you keep at least 4-6 inches clearance around Jot, you should have little about which to worry.
