    ... How about now?

From Magni 3+ FAQ: "It’s essentially a mini speaker amp."

    So,

^^^ This, I presume, is still just as true now? Laws of thermodynamics are same now as 4 years ago, yes. But magni 3 now has fancy new parts, right¿

What about all the heresy and nexus and continuity and what-not fancy new headamps? Do any of them have some special topology/parts/magic advantage that would make them safer to use for, say, a pair of 8ohm full-range drivers? With resistors in series, I guess? Yes, I don't mind 100% voiding warranty.

I'm most of all just curious if anything has changed.

I'm also window-shopping for diy full-range speaker system. Aegir is expensive for me. And Emotiva A100 is not as small or as cute as a schiit headamp.

What they mean is that it's a similar topology to speaker amps but scaled down for headphones. It's only rated down to 16ohms though so maaaaaybe, it you have 16ohm speaker drivers. (Which I do)

Crank up bass with a Loki or EQ in the digital realm. Use Verum or HE5XX headphone with 10 to 20-ohms load. Crank up volume. Watch any headamp melt, unless it has huge heatsinks or was designed to run such low impedance lows for an extended period of time.

Even if not driven to clipping, the current demands will get those things hot with speaker loads. Nexus isn't an output stage, but you get the idea. Doesn't matter what topology. Parts that get hot will melt.

Don't use a headamp to power speakers unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Take a look at Dayens Audio amps, or the Vista Audio Spark.

Incidentally I think Schiit should make a single-ended (or cheap ass balanced inputs) Ragnarok Mini for desktops or smaller systems, without all the expansion card stuff (and less power obviously).

You know, I wonder what happened to this magni, speakers, and resistor box. I sold this all to @Dino before he sadly passed, and I don't think he ever got the chance to use them.
