Lots of people will be poking around…
Will the countdown to a new release be called a "turtle race"?
You mean a “turdle race”?
Edit: maybe not the best metaphor; Shiit stuff definitely not turds. Just in the coprolalic context of Massdump.com from the previous page (awesome name for a site btw)
So... Schiit releasing something through MassDrop?
A beefed up Fulla maybe? A balanced Lyr3? Perhaps a single ended only, half priced Yggdrasil just to spite the Amateur Science Review idiots who would be honor bound / brainwashed not to buy it?
Edit: Maybe it's just 4 preamps. I hope one is balanced with dual XLR outputs, that are switchable between the two outs, so I can use 1 Yggdrasil to drive both my Mjolnir 2 and headphones and Aegir + speakers.
I wondering if its a multibit dac, maybe even a balanced one, as a companion unit for their amps. After the Airist debacle, maybe they want to restart with Schiit.
Meh, I doubt whatever Shiit will bring would be through MassDrop. Shiit already offers things at the lowest price possible from a business point so it will actually be more expensive to go through MassDrop as they will take a cut too.
Also I don’t think they will cascade out a bunch of DACs. With the sad news of @baldr having health problems, I would imagine the digital development takes a brake or a break. (Best wishes for @baldr speedy and swift recovery, even if he decides he doesn’t not give a crap on audio equipment when is all better and prefers to spend his time playing golf rather than making cool toys for idiots like us)
So it seems that the story I linked earlier in the week has now changed drastically.....
No mention of pre amps, or a thunderdome style battle Royale, or Tina turner.........
Sounds like a conspiracy........
Maybe the audio-head writer saw this thread with
and edited the article?
Well edited vs removing it all completely are different things.
I’m thinking the Audiohead guy just let the cat out of the bag too early and Jason probably asked him to adjust the article until it can be officially announced. Or he figured it out himself and adjusted it. Doesn’t matter.
Let’s just be patient and wait for Jason to let the world know what he’s up to. What he’s hinting at sounds pretty cool. Hopefully he’ll let us know sooner than later.
I guess there's an obvious gap in the pre-amp line-up for:
- baby Saga, single-ended solid-state/passive ($249-299)
- baby Freya, balanced solid-state/passive ($499-549)
- single-ended passive only Sys with remote ($99-149)
- balanced passive only Sys with remote ($149-199)
Seems to go against the Schiit mantra of having too many overlapping products though, so I could just be talking out of my ass.
Yeah I'm sure you are right, I just find it interesting.
Also head Fi sucks. I had like three posts deleted. It all started because of the phrase
"That site that can't be referenced" pretty amaze balls.
Mc D's tonight. Fries and ketchup.
This is a direct quote from Jason on another thread fairly recently when myself and Zonto suggested building a balanced SYS with remote:
SBAF is Voldemort on HeadFi.
@schiit - I'd buy it.
Seconded. I need that kind of solution on my end also.
Very specifically, what I want Schiit to make is a (reasonably) transparent way for me to split the balanced out of their DACs into two devices - in a manner where I can select one out, or another, or both - while being able to control volume as well.
Their DACs usually have plenty of SE outs, or it is easy enough to put a SYS where you need one. There is very little out there that can allow you to use two balanced amps/monitors/whatever from a single DAC.
Personally I don't need to split the signal into two, but I do need a transparent remote controlled no fuss device between my toob headamp/preamp and power amp so I don't have to get up to change the volume everytime. Sounds like this would do it. I'd pay $200.
My use case is a transparent balanced to SE attenuator. Switching between 2 SE outs would be a bonus. I’d likely trade the Freya for that.
A site like this one? Damn, we would too!
@schiit -- I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Separate names with a comma.
