What's your setup at home? Sounds like a killer if it can compete with the HE1 & Stax BHSE combo.

Don't be a perma-noob. A lot of stuff can compete with those. Depends what kind of sound you are looking for.

Yeah. And in the end, HD650 rule them all.

SET + 15" woofers in 6 cu. ft. cabinets + compression drivers / front loaded horns (preferably two, for one to get the last octave) rules them all.

    Yes, sir!

Haha, I'm also a big camera/photography nerd so the Leica has kept me away from owning the absolute top of the line things but that may change soon as I think I have reached nirvana where cameras are concerned. (well, not quite, but the next jump is just too big!)

Not for me bro. An HE60 and Milos-Clones may actually be better sound quality wise to me, because it seems those retain the sound signatures I like, with perhaps better distortion specs (and that mostly in the lower bass areas). The HE60s are also black, and so more awesome. Milos needs to bat-blacky-fi his cans.

The price and unobtanium-ness is sort of a deal breaker for me.

And overall, yeah, speakers rule. I'm sort of an omni-directional nut though.

Would have loved to be there, but had to be Mr. Mom and do other stuff around the house. So I therefore live this meet vicariously through all of you guys.

I am a little bit surprised that you find Z1R has so little bass, Can you explain it more?

That's www.ORFAS.org dick schwinging. Shit efficiency for a line array and that many drivers. Defeats the point. IRS should have been more impressive (although Genesis with better cabinets and drivers are probably much better.)

The guy using a concrete wall as a infinite baffle for his 15's has way more style. I actually plan on visiting him.

Ironic that Source AV guy wants more exposure on places like head fi for the Source AV shows, but there's hardly anything on head fi about the show. Definitely more coverage of it here.

It worked better when Warren bribed them with the chance of winning prizes for each posted impression.

We should keep tabs on the events at Source AV. Lots of stuff I missed in the past.

Shits expensive giving away things every event lol. There also seemed to be a certain amount of fatigue on HF during the Summer from having all of those events.

If you do have suggestions for future events like dac/amp pairings and whatnot feel free to suggest them and I can pass it along. And it also gives us some time to change music on computers and install drivers. Between all the dealers and manufacturers who come we could probably get most any gear we wanted. I'll also let Jason know this thread around has a lot of posts and impressions, I'm sure he will be happy to hear that.

^ yeah, I 2nd this. HE60, HE90, and Milos' clones are much closer to "neutral" for me, and I think by now ultra knows what my "neutral" is really like. :)

I think HD650 is a bit too far south... too dark and a bit dulled, despite me really liking how it handles upper mid/lower treble transition compared to HD580/600. It seems there really is no happy medium here.

Something like HE1, on the other hand, is just a bit too far north. Sibilance galore. I would have preferred it to be a bit smoother, even if it would end up sounding splashy, but it was no doubt still the most impressive "headphone sound" I've ever. I think you may end up liking it, too, ultra.

Too bad you couldn't show up. Would have loved to show you Koss Porta Pro in person! Now I've gotta send you more things whenever you're not playing Mr. Mom. :)
