In the past six months I've stopped using my squeakycleanvinyl.com MK-III as I noticed that the 'record mat' material placed on the 3d-printed turntable meant to grip the record was leaving a residue on my records. It took the form of a 'polka dot' pattern that aligned exactly to the texture of the material. I emailed the owner and he said he'd never heard of that happening before, and that the material was washable. I ran it through a load of laundry and it still left the 'polka dots' which require a significant amount of work to remove. Has anyone else seen this happen?

I get pimple impressions during cleaning, especially on the side which hasn't yet been cleaned, but they fade quickly after lifting from the mat and none have remained or returned on any of the records I've done at different times.

What cleaning solution are you using, and how are you doing it? I've been using the London Jazz Collector recipe, without a rinse cycle but with long vacuum times so that the side is completely dry before flipping. I guess if the mat isn't entirely solvent-proof and some solvent remains when the newly-cleaned side is flipped onto it, that might be a problem.

Try vacuuming for longer, and if you're still worried, maybe replace the mat with one that might be more solvent-resistant, eg this. Might need 2, or a gasket underneath to get the right thickness though.

That's the same solution formula I was using, but I wasn't being as scrupulous with vacuuming before flipping which might have been a source of the problem. I bought something very similar to what you recommended to replace the mat but also bought a Record Doctor when they were on discount around Christmas. I've since been using the platter from squeakyclean as a platform for dry-cleaning and applying cleaning solution/brushing before transitioning over to the Record Doctor.
