Any 50Hz transformer will work with 60Hz but not vice versa.

50Hz transformers are bigger in order to deal with the lower frequency. A 60Hz transformer however will overheat on 50Hz mains.

Since the other transformers are 230v-240v, this would be result in a lower output voltage in a country with 220v, which is good in terms of safety. Worst case scenario is that the power is too low for the regulators and it just wouldn’t work.

The Piety needs an input of 14-16VAC. If you have a 240vac -> 16vac transformer and you use it on 220vac, you will get 14.6vac. Well within the voltage the Piety needs to function.

Awesome news. Wondering what shipping option(s) you plan to have (specifically asking for Canada in my case)?

Stupid question, but how are we supposed to order the Piety, when there is no order form or phone number on the Nitsch site?

Why would there be an order form if ordering is only opening on Sunday? Yes, stupid question. Go to the site on Sunday 9am and see the wonders that await you. I could do the same for shipping options, but was just curious what I’m looking at (mainly hoping not USPS!).

Shipping options for US = either UPS or USPS.
Shipping option for outside of US = DHL.

Quick question for you whizz-kids. I often travel between continental EU and the UK. Knowing that EU operates at 220V, UK at 240V and that the EU commission set a uniform norm of 230V for both EU and UK, should I go for the UK power supply at 240V or the EU one at 230V? Is there an advantage of one over the other for Piety or will it all sound the same regardless and will work anywhere in EU and UK?

Better than USPS -> CP, but yeah DHL not the best. UPS or FedEx all the way.

I've had great luck with the post. Predictable and reasonable import/custom fees.

I'd agree First Class mail is universally terrible, but Priority has always been great.

Production sample (random unit sent to me).

Note that low gain is a little less than x2. Most measurements are done under low gain which is usually x1 / unity gain. Higher gain will usually have a disadvantage when it comes to SINAD because this is usually achieved with less negative feedback.

2Vrms output (2Vrms input, volume knob adjusted to achieve desired output)

Note 2Vrms will be way too high and will destroy most headphones or your hearing.

Yeah, I choose USPS->CP over UPS/FedEx myself. The latter always destroys me on import fees.

Shouldn’t matter. Most properly designed consumer electronics should be able to deal with 10% variations in mains electricity which this is within. Pick the plug you use the most and find an adapter.

If it’s really a concern go with the 240v UK version since it will drop to a lower output voltage in the EU

Piety seems to be made around the same time as the new Magni’s. I wonder why the Piety couldn’t have negative gain as well?

Was it simply that changes would have increased costs or the circuit is fundamentally unstable when gain is that low?

This is CeeTee we're talking about. First class all the way, baby! Expect nothing less than a top flight experience from beginning to end.
