suggestion for EC

stop using cheap plastic home appliance knobs on your amps

 

I prefer the utilitarian, the perfectly functional. Don't forget what it means to get carried away on this aesthetic point.

 

Those knobs are practically part of the look at this point. See: The Moth stuff. I feel a bit bad bumping this shitpost of a thread.

 

Sometimes seemingly ironic comments are actually fastballs down the middle; part of the game of a knuckeballer.

 

A shitpost isn't a serious comment, its usually a non-serious comment of deliberate low-quality made to incite people and get replies. You see this quite a bit on anonymous imageboards.

 

This one is actually kind of legit, i know a guy in thailand with a BW whose knob has some fading/discoloration. A nice aluminium one would be cool.

Isn't the pot using some sort of standard shaft? You can just mill or buy a new knob for it.

 

ya i know you can but like for a 2.5k amp they should really give you a nice metal volume knob

 

Well the schiit knobs are nice, paint it black and i see it looking good

 

Shiit knobs look tabout the same as all the knobs on any other amp. I don't want a modern looking aluminum knob on my retro looking tube amp. In fact, I can't imagine a knob that would keep my Zana looking like a Zana. I hope Craig has a lifetime supply of those.

I love the way the looks of the EC stuff refers to the Moth stuff. Actually I can hardly make up my mind if I prefer the look of the Xana with wood or the similar looking BA without the wood. And I'm also quite fond of the red belly BW, even if that was originally a screwup.

I hope that whomever is responsible for the aesthetics of the EC amps keeps doing what he's doing.
But then, who I am to judge. I prefer the looks of a 70s Charger, new Challenger or even a RAM to the looks of an SLR ,Ferrari and the likes.

 

So do I but that's due to the heat.

They kind of look like this after they are sanded and polished, you can obviously make it shinier =)

 

Knobs are the one item that can be installed without opening the amp or even any tools for that matter. Just get whatever you like.

I don't think the Schiit knobs would suit the EC amps personally. I like the one on the DNA Stratus but i also see no issue with the EC ones although i haven't actually touched one.
