The super lock natural looks like the same material. I'll order some to confirm.

Anyone able to confirm whether or not the superlock rug liner is the same as ones needed for the mod?

I'm interested in purchasing leftover materials for this if anyone is in the U.S. (for ease of shipping)!

@ductrung3993 I ordered some. I thought I still had the original material, but I can’t find it. I think I remember what it felt like, so I’ll post once it’s in if I think it’s the same. If anyone still has the original material and can compare, I’ll send some over.

I haven’t tried those. But those are the ones I have found that look from picture most similar.

@ductrung3993 Just shipped on Tuesday, so I don't have it yet. It looks like it may arrive tomorrow, so I'll post then. Offer is still open for sending some material for side-by-side comparison. @aPole are you interested?

@ductrung3993 I received the rug pad today. If my memory serves me correctly, this is not the same product I had previously. This does not look like the same product that zerodeefex posted on page 5, much more like what JoshMorr posted on Page 7. On the package it says "Oriental Weavers" as the manufacturer (owrugs.com), and judging by the look of their other products I don't believe they are the same manufacturer as the original. The hunt continues.

Edit: Just ordered this one to try next. https://www.grandinroad.com/comfort-grip-indoor-rug-pad-for-hard-surfaces-/555540

This is the same exact material as last time, same name and everything. I should have expected that, I suppose. If I find some of this stuff, I will post down the line.

I think both of those are also the same one I got. Both are Comfort Grip by Oriental Weavers according to the sites.

Hey guys, I just replaced my 800S with a 800. Thinking of trying out both SDR as well as SBAF mods. Any success on finding the next best material? I appreciate any input.

While the search for the proper material continues (I've been searching my local rug shops in addition to the internet), @EagleWings and I decided to create a SBAFaux mod using drawer liner that @Hands likes using for 650 modding (I had it handy for the same purpose). We cut half width wedges (with the main wedge cutout as "full width") at the 120 degree and 240 degree mark (if you use the main wedge as the 0 degree reference) to make the material fit since it doesn't have the same stiffness as the proper material.

I find it helps with the bringing forward the mids somewhat, but if I had to guess from how much thicker and wooly the proper material looks, it only dampens about 30-40% as well. It's still a lot better than the Oriental Weavers rug grip material, which is about half as thick as the drawer liner and barely has any effect, but still leaves me wanting for the proper material.

I'm not understanding what is trying to be accomplished here.

Both the SDR & my "S" material choice solve the peak problem.

Adding both the original SBAF rug liner with those other mods will make over dampened tamed sound with smaller soundstage..

Although it is true the SBAF material was the best of this type of mod and had a flatter frequency response, in the end I do not use anything that would reduce soundstage so I dont use it and gave mine away.

I wrote a complete HD800 upgrade in which I showed solutions to the "cause & effect", of the HD800 problems, instead of this bandaid fix to the problems.
You won't need any rug liners with my mod.
Nobody said it was going to be easy, but my fix would be a rewarding solution to those that put the effort in.

Absolutely no reason for you to come in here, shit all over a different mod, then advertise your own. If you're proud of your work, that's great, but everyone has different ears, and what you find to be the holy grail may not be another's cup of tea.

I completely disagree to what your thinking as what I find was factual and measured .
I also mentioned the SDR mod option as well..

Sorry to rain on your parade.

I will unsubscribe from this thread so I won't further upset anyones sensibilities.

There's way more to the headphones than what is being addressed here, and I have also since moved on from HD800 anyways.
