Apologies for necroing this thread, but I'm finally getting an HD800 to mod and was hoping to get some of the OG material. Does anyone have any left, or know if it's available anywhere?

    Thanks!

I've been looking for a couple years now for the material online. The only stuff out there now is whatever personal stashes that are left. I found something that was very close in size, density, etc, but it was missing the natural rubber flocking which I think was important to the sound.

99.9% sure that isn't the right one. Here is the one I found that looks the closest so far to the original. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M1KLVYX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Much plumper and smaller gaps. Below is a picture of the 3 materials that I have:

The circular piece is the cutout from the HD800 template. Bottom is the closest I have found (and is a pretty good actual rug liner), and the checkerboard one is close to what you found on ebay and is unfortunately what you get even when the pictures look more like the OG pad.

I'm 95% sure @fraggler 's no. 3 is the same material as this one, which I bought at Canadian Tire and used to good effect for an AKG K702 mod. It's also missing the flocking.

Unfortunately, the remainder didn't make the move to Vancouver with me. @gixxerwimp , maybe your local contacts? If you can't source it, let me know and we can work something out. It's showing as available in my local store.

Huge thanks to @TheloniuSnoop for sending me some of the good stuff! Very initial impressions are that there's a slight reduction in the "edginess" of the shout and a less diffuse (but slightly smaller) stage. Interesting measurements compared to SDR+cork alone. I tried to make the conditions as consistent as possible between them and only reached in and pulled out the liner to take the measurement w/o it (raw measurements with no offset applied, 1/24 smoothing).

I think this is in line with @purr1n's results.

I don't remember anyone mentioning it, but does this rug liner come with an "air freshener" scent? I'm very sensitive to odours and could smell it before I opened the box. I went through all the online perfume removal tips (vinegar, baking soda, vodka) and am now fortifying the vodka with 75% isopropyl that we have onhand for virus disinfection (I'm afraid too strong a mixture will start breaking down the rubber). After multiple soaks and washes, I can still smell it. The alcohol is having the most effect, so I'll try soaking it overnight again.

The rug liners cut by @zerodeefex did not have a scent. Well, if anything a slight burnt smell from the laser. Much more preferable to perfume.

Howdy all. Finally scored a used HD800 and wondering if anyone is willing to part with some OG rug liner? Of course I will cover any shipping costs and more. Already purchased an SDR here but wanted to try everything I never had a chance to until meow.
