Can anyone offer a rookie's guide for taking the Susvara apart (or a link to one)? My objective is to either hardwire the cables or install some connectors that are not total shit like the OEM 2.5mm's are. TIA - Lee

Not sure how much this would be of use to you but this is what i came across the other day. Someone took the Susvara apart and destroyed the driver. My advice is, if you're gonna do some soldering near the drivers, be sure to cover the drivers with some lint-free cloth, and do the job swiftly to avoid overheating the diaphragm.
    Good luck!

Thx. I think I'll just leave it be until the 2.5mm's start giving problems.

Looks to me like he dipped a chicken's feet in ink and let it walk all over the page. Even Google can't fix that.

Hey, don't knock chicken feet. They're tasty if done right ;)

But seriously, it's really hard to Google translate Chinese forum posts, due to the colloquial and niche language used. I can't read Chinese, but can speak it. However, sounding out the pinyin, I usually can't make heads or tails out of what is written. Imagine trying to AI-translate the impressions on here. Most native Ingrish speakers can't understand wtf we're going on about.

Ah... OK... Time for Chinese translation. And I saw his shop on Taobao, so I know roughly what's this guy's being doing.

He's been making DIY headphones, mostly planar ones, and there are quite a few people in China making they DIY planar headphones, so I guess there must be some driver suppliers. This guy has been used that page as his personal blog, logging his working progress, emotion, and evaluation on other headphones, and yes, he's sentences were a bit... weird... just like some logs for himself.

About that pic of Susvara's driver, he made a typo in the description, and the sentence was too short. It's like his friend disassembled Susvara, then he or his friend broke the membrane, so there's what we saw...

Yep that is his blog where he jots down build notes and some random ramblings.
The stuff he sells on Taobao is pretty interesting, and one of them is a pair of planar headphones made with 97mm diameter diaphragms. I thought that's pretty insane, considering that most planar drivers out there has diaphragms way smaller than that.
He calls the headphones 972, since the diaphragm is a 2um thick mylar, and wants them to be giant slayers. (hence the dissection of the Susvara to study its anatomy)
I have them, but that would be a story for another thread.
