Thanks for trying to help bixby.
I found about 2 relevant comments and got some mixed opinions.

Anyone got more opinions and experiences with mods + Sonarworks?

I believe there are reports of people applying Dynamat without removing the spider cage, in which case everything is easily and quickly reversible. You could just go ahead an try it. Just don't smoosh the Dynamat down too hard so you can just peel it off again. Application literally takes about 5 minutes after you've cut out the bits of Dynamat.

Thanks a lot mate, the no smoosh is a very good advice. I know it's reversible and it's why I consider it. Just wanted to hear some impressions and recommendations in this regard :)

All this working from home makes me need a microphone solution to go along with my desktop rig.

    How do I do this?

Right now I'm rocking an HD650 KISS, a custom SE tube amplifier, and a Modibit fed USB from my desktop computer.

I'm fine with mics that can be attached to the 650, or a standalone if that's better. I don't really know much about mics so please recommend any associated equipment I would need too, like a mic pre? I guess DAC and mic/mic-pre need their own USB output/input? Thanks, fellas.

I don't know a lot about microphones, but I do know that there's probably no one-size-fits-all solution to your problem. Can you describe your situation in more detail? For example:

Are you working in a quiet area, or do you need the mic to ignore or filter out noise other than your voice?
Will you ever need to share the mic with another person at your location?
Do you need to use headphones for privacy, or might an all-in-one desktop speakerphone work for you?
Will you want to use the mic for anything other than phone calls / teleconferencing?
    What's your budget?

Modmic - electret, usb, or wireless versions - is kinda the defacto recommendation.

Otherwise you can try for a desk mic, but those tend to pick up keyboard noise like its an earthquake, so then you need a suspension arm, and then you want a pop filter, and then you look like a twitch streamer.

idk about the quality, but you probably can't go too far wrong for this price:

School me on 4k blue ray players. Now that the Oppo has closed its line. What are some preferred models?

I followed the introduction of that product, because it was so much cheaper than the ModMic that I bought (also, iirc Massdrop had a group by for the ModMic, then quickly followed it up with this product that looked like a clone so the whole thing looked a bit dodgy).

Before buying, check for recent feedback, because when it first came out it was plagued with complaints for sound and build quality

I'd second the ModMic recommendation if usage is just casual. Mine's been great for 5+ years.

Second the modmic as well. I'm using Antlion Modmic with my HD650 right now. Easy to install, detachable, affordable, much better sound quality than a cheap microphone that comes with phones these days at least. I also bought a cheap 3.5 to USB adapter to go with it to get rid of the static noise that usually comes with PC mainboards.

https://antlionaudio.com/ or occasionally on sales on Drop. Jeez I sound like a salesman.

Cool, thanks for the recommends, guys.

Looks like the regular mod-mic, terminated in 3.5mm, is just uni-directional.

The USB mod-mic has two modes, omni- and uni-directional.

If I want to be able to plug these into my phone and PS4 as well, I see I would need the following accessories:

    Regular mod-mic
    > 3.5mm to USB (mod-mic sells these) for computer use
    > Y-adapter to split headphone + microphone, so I can use HD650 + modmic with PS4 and phone (mod-mic sells these too)

    USB mod-mic
    > just USB for computer and no accessory needed
    > USB female to 3.5mm for PS4 and phone (do these exist???)

Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms but it looks like it doesn't. Before I sacrifice omni-directional mode, tell me if I've overlooked something?

All I can say is I have an older ModMic 5, which is electret (3.5 plug) with mode switch and the omni mode is only useful if i want to annoy people with my keyboard. YMMV ofc.

You could also get the wireless, which comes with a dongle in case your PC doesn't have BT - or its not good enough, as is often the case - and is natively supported by the PS4 and phones.

I have the ModMic wireless, but I haven't tried it with my phone yet. I may misunderstand what you mean by native support for PS4 and phones, but from what I understand from the Antlion FAQ, you need to connect the dongle to your phone. You won't find it via bluetooth.

From the FAQ, how to connect to a tablet or smartphone:

    For Wireless & USB ModMics:

The ModMic Wireless & ModMic USB require finding a way to convert the USB type-A to a compatible USB format for your device, such as USB-C. It may not work with all devices.

    Additional info from the FAQ:
Unfortunately the ModMic Wireless can not pair with native Bluetooth devices. However, you CAN pair the ModMic Wireless with any aptX Low Latency Receiver. The receiver MUST be both aptX Low Latency AND a receiver, not a transmitter.

Ah yeah, it looks like I'm misremembering and have peddled Alternative Facts. Apologies!

Knowing phone manufacturers its probably hard to find any with AptX LL, because that would actually be useful, unlike 50mp telephoto lenses.

    Hi Everyone!

I am looking for a DAC around a new Yggdrasil A2 msrp (+-$500) to be used for both my headphones rig and my 2ch stereo.

Main headphones are: ZMF Verite, Hifiman HE1000se and I would probably grab a RAAL sr1a next year.
Main speakers are the Adam A7x which going to be replaced with some Triangles soon (idk which model I am going for yet)
The preamp would be the Freya + or S
The headphone amp is the Ultrasonic Oblivion

I value macro dynamics and imaging first, then the natural timbre and resolution. (fast transients would be great too but I think I am asking too much for that price lol)

I EQ everything because nothing is perfect, so I would not worry much about the tonal balance (BUT not timbre).

    Thanks a lot <3

A component in the PSU portion of my Cavalli Liquid Lightning erupted in flames a little while ago.

I bought it used from muppetface in 2013. Would anyone happen to know what Alex is like when it comes to servicing stuff like this? I should just find the contact info and ask him, but I really don't feel like dealing with this just right now...

Thinking about upgrading my K7XX to HD800S for gaming.

Is my Schiit Hel powerful enough?
    • Maximum Power, 300 ohms: 200mW RMS
The reason why I am asking:
This youtuber says he has distorted bass with 800S only on low "quality power". "On Schiit Hel the bass response didn‘t really seem as resolving and as clear..."

    What do you think?

Probably not ideal. Maybe save up for Asgard and use line-out from Hel to Asgard?
Hel alone might suffice for a while but you'd be totally pushing its limits imo.
