Nope, Jason recently squashed that over on Headfi. Class D is “class dead” to them. He’s looking at other more efficient topologies apparently (perhaps class G or H, not sure he didn’t say).

Knowing them, they'll pull a rabbit out of a hat. I can see them making a desktop amp for near fields in the similar vein they made Fulla. I can see them make it modular with an optional dac or phono stage card.

@rlow budget is around $2k max. Don’t really have a requirement for power. I guess enough to power the Harbeths. I think the H120 should have enough power at around 100w into 6ohms. I’m probably going to go with this and see if it works out. Difficult to demo gear right now unfortunately.

btw, how come all of the used listings for Hegel are from the EU? They seem rare in the US

Should sound really good I think. Possibly it will be warmish, but I suspect not overly so, and it should definitely have lots of current and getup and go for the Harbeths. I like Hegel a lot.

I'm trying to sort out my desktop setup. I have been able to roll through some headphones and pick up the Asgard 3 and Modi 3. I currently have the Elex with the Asgard 3 and Modi 3. I enjoy the Elex, but from my understanding it doesn't scale like the good ole Hd6x0.

My question is about selling the Elex to build around the HD6X0. Would I be better to get the Modius with Asgard 3 to Hd6x0 or go Modius balanced to Jot to Hd6x0? Or is keep the system as is...

I run the HD 650 unmodded, and if FedEx is on time, I should have the Modius tomorrow. I currently have the Gungnir multibit A1, which is warm, and when coupled with the HD 650, which is also warm, it can be too much of a good thing. I can report back in a few days (probably in one of the Modius threads) about this synergy. I'm hoping the Modius isn't quite as warm and works well the 650.

@Dash , you’d be side grading, or a very minor upgrade at best. Save up for next tier components like a Bifrost 2 and a good tube amp.

Is there anyway to plug one headphone into two amps for A/Bing (with a switch behind the two amps)? Like the opposite of those Y splitters that let you plug two headphones into one amp.

Sure. Here's a cheap two-in/one-out switcher with 3.5mm jacks all around; you can also get them with other connectors and at higher price/quality levels: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0787X4J4V

New Friends - I've just bought a Gungnir Multibit from a good friend - with a dead USB input. (Known issue). I've noticed there's a Gen 5 card from a Yggdrasil on Ebay. Are they the same card? The price is right - just a little more than the shipping to California for a Unison upgrade. Might hold me for a minute (I'm a Spdif/Optical user for the moment anyhow).

Also - for fellow travelers - how hard is it to reseat the lights on the Gungnir? I've watched a few videos - but it's hard to see!

One thing that concerns me is while it's probably the card that's dead, it might be the socket the card is plugged into that could be dead. Really no way to tell unless someone with a good electrical background checks it out.

Also, during the ordering process on Schiit.com, you have to specify the dac the usb cards go in, even if you will install on your own at home. That leads me to believe there are slight differences in the cards and one card is not universal. I could be completely wrong, however.

At the moment the card works-and my computer sees it – but periodically maybe every 20 seconds I get a sharp snap or click. I do not get that with other sources. So I'm thinking it's definitely the card-

The short answer is no. Gungnir and Yggdrasil use different and incompatible USB cards.

That's for sure true? If so I'll need to cancel an eBay purchase-darn! Thought I had this solved for 50 bucks.
