Puron AC Power Conditioner by Greg Voth

After reading rave review of Puron AC plug in filter, I had got one 10 days ago.

For your information my system is very complicated with bi amping and three Farad linear supplies.

Thus I have 14 power cables, one main power conditioners, three isolation transformers.

I had tried plug in fliters from quiet lines, quartet stecker, IFI, furutech, Nordost Qv2 and QX2 fliters.

I still have all of them in my system without selling any of them.

    I am collector.

All of them had brought slight improvement but not drastic change.

But as soon as I inserted Puron Ac filter, it made background black with more details and clear bass.

The stereotimes review is spot on.

Encouraged by the result, I had ordered two more of them so that I can insert more of them close to amps and Dac.

Now my system got transformed with more vivid and clear sound stage but not overetched.

This is the best 750$ that I had spent during last 5 years in my audio system.

Hrm. Interesting. I have an iFi iPurifier on my hi-fi dedicated wall outlet, I felt it did make a notable improvement, but like you said, it wasn't 100% night and day difference. I felt background was a little blacker and details popped out a little more, seemed smoother, overall... My system is much simpler than yours so I only needed one filter.

@Thomas Seok Hwan Kong Have you ever tried batteries? For the money you sunk into AC filtering you might have been able to build yourself a battery generator, or just purchase a turn-key solution such as those made by Bluetti.

Here is a link to an Audiogon thread on DIY battery generators. I'm sorry, but the thread gets derailed a few times and childish arguments ensue. Pure sine wave inverted DC is a bit voodoo for some people, so there are heated debates on the validity of battery generators powering audio rigs:
    https://forum.audiogon.com/discussi...to-go-off-the-city-s-power-grid?lastpage=true

I have experience with the EcoFlow River Pro, it had audible cascading distortion on my amplifier, also bass was a bit muddled and loose, but other than that it seemed to make an overall positive effect to the detail and depth of stage on my rig. When I contacted EcoFlow about the distortion they said if I had this issue with the River Pro I would have this issue with ALL of their generators. I cannot recommend EcoFlow products for our purposes for this reason. However, I have also tried Bluetti EB120 (1,200Wh) and it sounded fantastic: cut much deeper into tracks, better attack and detail retrieval, more extended and textured high frequencies, basically better across the board imho, completely different animal to AC filtering if you ask me. Instead of attempting to filter out line noise with basically Active Noise Canceling, you cut yourself off from mains power altogether and completely remove any RF noise on the line. I can totally recommend Bluetti for our purposes, at least these older Bluetti units sound very good to me, not sure if they've changed the sauce by now, their aesthetic design cues are totally different now at least.

Supposedly, according to people in that Audiogon thread I linked, Giandel inverters are on a completely different level from GoalZero, EcoFlow, or Bluetti; like whole 'nother league. This is why I am currently building my own battery generator with a Giandel inverter. An Audiogon member has measured the THD on a Giandel inverter @ 2% (Giandel reports <3% THD for ALL of their inverters, and most residential wall outlets are in the range of 4-5% from what I've read --can be higher in the summer with everyone's AC unit running).

Seeing as you are using these AC filters for a speaker rig your power requirements are probably much more robust than my measly headphone rig, but 1,200Wh can power my 60-70W headphone rig for ~15-16 hours. You could get a battery generator and JUST power your digital and maybe pre-amp with it at first to see how it goes.
    Equation for calculating runtime:
(efficiency rating x Watt hours) / Watts drawn.
Giandel inverters are rated for 90% efficiency, fyi.

Anyway, glad you are digging the Puron filters. If you get a chance, maybe buy a Bluetti EB150 (1,500Wh, very similar build to the EB120) off eBay. Bluetti (aka Max Oak) has a decent 30day, free returns return policy on eBay. You could get a taste for battery generators this way, the EB150 should power your system for at least a listening session, and if you like the benefits just return the Bluetti and build your own more serious generator with Litime (previously called AmpereTime) battery and Giandel inverter. Just my 2 cents.

So this thing works if plugged into the first outlet of a surge protector? But surge protector outlets are wired in parallel, so how could this filter the power running right past it to your audio equipment?

What does it mean to scrub my electrical system of grunge?

As far as I'm aware, these types of devices are like active noise canceling for mains lines. It "listens" to the noise on the line and sends out the exact inverse of that signal to cancel out the noise. That's my take on it at least. So it sends out extra "healthy" noise into the line, so to speak, so it affects the whole mains path afaik. This Puron noise filter seems to also take DC current into account? That's what I got from reading the Audiogon thread, I might be reading too far into some of the statements there, however. But supposedly low level DC voltage on mains lines can have a huge effect on the audio.

Supposedly these filters work better the closer they are on the line to your components that need scrubbing.
