I had to google that album title. That's how much I'm not a fan of the Grateful Dead.

There was always something about their music I didn't care for. It made me a pariah among my friends, who often went to the Fillmore East to see them live (I declined).

I have nothing against TGD or their many passionate fans...just never cared for them.

 

Not everyone's cup of tea. But there is another side to the Dead as well as the psychedelic-weird. Have a quick listen to American Beauty or Working Man's Dead.


Back to the laughter...

 

I’m in the same boat as Pharmaboy; I will listen to those titles this week. They weren’t really a thing down here.

 

Oh, I have--on more than one occasion. Still nope.

In fairness to the Grateful Dead: ~1971 I started to seriously get into jazz, which I began seeing/hearing live as often as possible. Around the same time I started pulling back from rock 'n' roll in general. I couldn't help contrasting the noodling/discursive style of rock guitar jamming to jazz soloing (not a pretty comparison). So I left the Grateful Dead and other great rock bands behind.

But I never abandoned the blues, which for reasons I can't explain seems to play by different rules. I love blues guitar in particular and listen to it often--even though I'm also nuts for the jazz guitarists (current fave: Grant Green).

 

Falconry hoods with googly eyes should be standard issue.
