You are correct my friend. After 45 years, I rarely do gigs these days except fundraisers. A few years ago I wrote this bit to deal with the rise of the easily offended.

‘The trouble with kids these days is they are taught impractical nonsense at school. Quadratic Equations and the like. They should be taught things that they can use in life. Like, if a man talks in the forest and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?
If you go to a bulemic’s birthday party, does the cake jump out of the girl?
If you are at a Muslim strip club, do you reckon the guys yell out “show us your face!?”’
At that stage there are always a couple of grumbles to which I reply:
‘Hey don’t complain, that’s bullshit. I did that routine at the ISIS Christmas party and they pissed themselves. It wasn’t a bad party; musical chairs was slow, but shit - pass the parcel was quick, Now see, that’s the joke you should be offended by! See, you should have saved your indignation but you wasted it on the innocuous hajib joke!’

To be honest, my act has never been offensive so I could care less for the professional victims. Having said that, shit comedians that punch down instead of up deserve to be called on it.

I used to stick my head in when I was bored and one day they just had yet another huge pile on, on a product none of them had act actually heard so I felt obliged to point out that condemnation prior to investigation keeps you in ignorance. I wasn’t shit stirring; I was serious but then they made the mistake of attacking me ad hominem and it didn’t go so well for them.
