I'm listening to something else, but this has to be the John Lennon song, right? I guess he was wealthy and famous when he sang it.

At least he authored the song. He did not cover it or release it to make others feel better. His job was to make music so he did what he had to do. Successful bands become a business because hey, their art leads to revenues.

The last thing the world needs right now, if you ask me is another "We Are The World" whether it is a Beatles cover or not. Feel good non-sense of people who are wealthy enough (haves) to make it out of this global crisis sing while (many) people who live pay-check to pay-check (have-nots) will have to scrape by to get through this year. If you want to (while wealthy) sing to make others feel better while you just as well could give those in need some financial aid, well f**k you.

I am scraping by as many others. These kind of things disgust me. My humour might often be mild but at its core it is bitter and scarred. There is only one song that really applies to the U.S. and to an extent the world right now:

    So yeah, whatever...

Oh sure, and I like to think that he did so sincerely.

Actually, some of the music from the sixties (which includes the early seventies) makes me want to weep... because we didn't change the world. We gave birth to a new generation of bankers and consultants and created the venture capitalist. What an indictment of a generation: from the Grateful Dead to Venture Capitalism.

At least John Lennon had cool glasses. His pictures are still used to sell the damn things.

If you don't like his music, you can still like his glasses...

The thing about "We Are The World", as much as I dislike the song, it was used to raise money for Africa, which is the point I think you're sort of making. If I have to suffer through & wonder about your sincerity, there better be someone genuinely suffering somewhere benefiting from it.

So how is your Sunday morning today?

I'm glad you asked. The morning began having my loyal furry companion, Thomas Kat, demonstrate his love for me by bringing me a present. A live juvenile chickadee which he had skillfully caught and brought into the house without harming much, and then released for me to catch.

Now Dr. Emmett, our other cat (and indoor only) has never had the chance to hunt a bird proceeds to chase the chickadee upstairs and into our bedroom. My sleeping spouse screams and the next five minutes are a blur of bird, cat, wife running around with shit flying every which way. Our bedroom is transformed from order to chaos in an instant.

After 30 minutes of damage control I manage to get the bird to fly out an open window while keeping cats confined to the garage. Now to cleanup, put everything back. Instead of a morning walk I'm thinking seriously about having cereal and scotch.

It should be noted, Thomas is a neighborhood cat that has adopted us after living on his own for several years. We won't be able to convert him to an indoor only cat, thus the challenge of blending an indoor/outdoor with an indoor only feline lifestyle.
