I think it's more like Bran can Youtube anything so technically he has all knowledge available, but he still has to enter in the right search terms. When Sam tells him about the secret marriage, he searches for it and plays it back. He didn't think to check prior to that.

The writing for this show has gone to shit. S8E2 was objectively just a terrible episode. Cliched and cringe-worthy interactions, an utterly dull and putrid script, heavily fueled by fan service.

Given the convergence of an absurdly large number of characters and the lack of any literature to rely on ever since the show leapfrogged the books, I do have some sympathy for the producers and directors.

That being said, it is becoming apparent that the show is continuing on a rapid downward spiral from the last 2 seasons. As if 6 episodes were not short enough screentime to resolve the series, it really felt as though they completely wasted away half of E2 for no purpose whatsoever.

Perhaps I'm being overly harsh. But I mean, do a re-watch of any episode from the first 5 seasons and the difference in quality is just painfully obvious.

 

So how can I join the fireplace squad?

Gendry's count is still 3. He did it with No One.

 

I will reserve judgement on episodes 1 & 2 until after #3 as I'm hopeful there will be a pay-off. It was interesting to me that with all the "reunions" (some of them admittedly cringe worthy) we saw one character (Dany) distance herself from key allies (Jon and Tyrion).
Be honest, even if you feel the writing has gone to shit and the show has lost it's way you will all be watching this Sunday!

 

They don't have books to follow, but they do have George. The start has been quite a letdown, but they shouldn't ens with crap unless they
A) Diverge greatly from George's intended ending, which would be pretty damn stupid,
or
B) George is ending his series with crap.

I am a cautiously optimistic that there should be a payoff, but this second show is a bit too much set up.

The show has not been the same without the books as a foundation, but this ep had some good moments. Any scene Arya is in is good, I have been sucked into the Jaime/Brienne redemption arc. I’ll also watch Bronn anytime. I missed having Thoros around. Love that actor.

Theon’s return to being a hero is totally unbelievable to me given what he’d been through in earlier seasons. I don’t see how Sana’a could ever forgive what he did to them, even if he did help her escape Ramsay.

@ultrabike is right: Night King is way OP. I was feeling optimistic in ep 1, but now I’m worried they are all fucked.

 

I think the last 4 episodes will still equal about a 5 hour movie's worth of time though. With the budget this show has, and the two years to create the these next 4 episodes I'm actually optimistic that the producers have paced this season out for there to be plenty of spectacle by the end.... if the next three episodes are all exposition though, then yeah, I'll have my doubts at that point.

 

Episode 3: we check in with all the characters again while the dead army walks to the castle. E3 ends w dead army 500 yards closer!!!!!

 

Let’s see. We are 1/3 through the final season, the scripts have been mostly shit, the actors seem to be showing it in their performances. What could possibly go wrong with the ending?

 

Not sure if you are kidding? But have a look at this if you are still concerned about waiting until episode 4 for the battle....

 

He was kidding, I'm sure. I don't think it's going to go well at Winterfell, and they'll be retreating to regroup.
