The Semitic pantheon should be El Elyon then El Yahve. Neither Kothar nor Poseidon really fit the same category as Enki/Ea.

Somehow I really enjoy this sort of theological nitpicking....

More seriously, when the f*ck did @omegaorgun become a contributor? It seemed to be around the time that I banned him, probably within the same hour. LOL, after he found out he got banned, he bitched to Paypal that "item was not as described". In hindsight, I should have waited the max days to refund him.

Moral of the story: if noobs want forbearance from the SBAF regulars, then contribute earlier rather than later.

I laughed when I saw the donation followed by the ban within hours...

Well. He got a refund. So no longer a contributor.

This refund business is setting a bad precedent...
Next time I give a homeless guy some cash, should I get a receipt?

As someone newer here the moral I took away was simply "Don't be a moron", lol. And I'm truthfully surprised a refund was given. Even though he was probably trying to purchase good will, he didn't actually buy anything, he donated.

I still think it's funny - that he thought he could be a contributor.

I'm guessing he was trying to either

a/ buy forgiveness for this dislikes business; or
b/ list that amp he kept going on about for sale on this site.

B is a solid possibility. I've seen it up for sale at HF and reddit before.

Well, I seriously doubt that he'd get more money here for anything. Head-fi would be a much better place to sell. Larger audience, and I've never seen a better deal there, unless it was with someone I was friends with there. Only time I've ever had a good deal there. Otherwise, prices are ridiculous. I see iems that are new for $2400, and used for $2100, even $2200 there. Never understood that. If you can afford 2200, why not just buy new?

The guy was a raging moron. I sometimes wonder why I’ve bothered, then I remember the main reason is really that it serves as a good signpost for new and future members that have at least bit more sense.

Pretty sure seeing these episodes were one of the things that initialy helped me calibrate to SBAF’s particular brand of no-BS tomfoolery.

I was on Chang for a while and rarely posted. Came here, waited some but have become more active, once I felt comfortable and understood how this boards works. New people should do same.

I'm on a similar path. I don't know why people come in guns blazing without getting a lay of the land.

To be blunt, I think I get a lot just from lurking and reading about things. A lot of people my age rush to buy things before they're really in a good place financially and end up getting a bunch of redundant mid-fi.

And its not even really about getting a lay of the land. I think its pretty easy to pick up the culture of SBAF and to just hang out. It's just like from a really straightforward perspective I've heard like 10 headphones in my whole life and like 3 amps. It was a great 10 headphones, but still. What can I realistically contribute to a conversation about the internal wiring of the MD eddie current ZDT for example? If someone knew what they were talking about it'd be fine to start posting earlier rather than later.

Most of it is common sense to anyone who grew up actually talking to people face to face, but allot of folks who are used to the social media "post whatever comes to mind" deal are in for a rough time here. I recommend reading many of the "How to win friends and influence people" threads before posting here. It's a good section to read so you know exactly how not to act.

As we know, with the rise of the internet and the lawnmower children generation, instant gratification is the new normal.

I blame the everyone wins attitude you can't do wrong most young children in first world countries are soaked in like they're made of glass or something. My ass was beaten up with a leather belt whenever I screwed up big time and I was made sure I understood why some behaviour is not tolerated like being a cry baby. Didn't understand it then but makes some sense now. Weak times create weak men, weak men create shitty posts on the double you double you double you to get the same attention of who's a good boy.
