Anyone heard any recent sets? Not sure if I should just grab an old set(Pre Fazor) As I prefer that lush vocal section with good sub bass.

My HD650 have been pretty much flawless in the mids.

    Argh decisions

Still loving my Pre Fazor LCD 2. Probably my favorite sound signature, if only it was comfy as my HD800.

If someone said I could have a LCD 4 or LCD 2 pre fazor I'd go for the 4 then sell it and buy a pre fazor 2 and pocket the other $3300.

Also have a PreFazor LCD2.2, it's surely a great headphone, better than most of the stuff audeze is putting out today. I have a modded 650 coming (thanks to one of the pirates) and we will see if the Audezes will be put up for sale.

I'm very interested in your thoughts between the two! What gear are you using with them?

I drive the LCD2.2s with an Asgard 2, and I guess I'm going to try a Vali with the 650. I have a bifrost uber as a DAC. I hope that I find the 650 a good LCD2 replacement, so I can then build my entire system around a single headphone

As much as I love the 2's, their weight is slowly getting to me.

I went from an LCD-2 fazor (December 2014 production date) to an HD-650 a few months ago. I felt like the Senns were an upgrade for me in most regards, with the exception of the LCDs maybe having slightly better focus and precision in the midrange and being a little tighter in the mid-bass. Despite being better controlled I did find the bass overall a bit wimpy and poorly extended - which wasn't what I was expecting and makes me think what I heard might be quite different from the pre-fazor LCD-2s. For me, the 650s just pull it all together.

I also had issues with the LCD-2F treble (similar to what @Hands has mentioned a few times), namely an unevenness and unnatural grain that was ever-present and bothered me most times I wore them, despite them not being bright at all. Comparisons at the time were on a WA7/WA7tp and an Asgard 2. I wonder if I was not driving the LCD-2Fs particularly well with those set-ups because they also sounded small in scale and narrow, which was weirdly incongruous with the weight and size of the thing I had on my head.

In my limited experience, I thought the 650s from the Asgard 2 was good - Warm but also clean & articulate. I could definitely have lived with that combo - very simple and got the job done really nicely.

I haven't heard any of the other Schiit amp line-up.

I had the LCD-2 a while ago. Sold them as I needed funds but really miss those beauts. I've heard lots of Fazor models and I think most of them sounded pretty bad for the price. I've been seeing graphs that seemed better but I still prefer a lush, warm sound. The ZMF Omni seem like they fit my preference too but I can't justify that money for a T50RP mod! I'm either going to hold out for a PreFazor or just keep my 650 and Nighthawk!

I thought the HD650 had slightly better mids than my old LCD-2 but it was pretty close! I've pretty much lost the memory of the PF LCD-2. I look forward to hearing how your modded 650 stack up!

I was away for the holiday weekend and stupid usps wouldn't leave the package in front of my door. I guess it's for the best, but seriously though, is that what my big mailbox is for?

But can't wait until after work tomorrow when I come home to the 650s.

Basically just what everyone here is saying: pre-fazor LCD2.2 is the best variant. But they still have some pair-to-pair variance, so be careful.

Looking forward to your comparisons aswell!
Ive had the LCD-2 2.3 rev for 2 years, and it was really good in my opinion.
Now that I finally own the HD650, I kinda makes me miss LCD-2 for some reason.

I have an LCD-2.2 pre fazor and I didn't like it much. I had always intended to sell it and pick up either LFF's Paradox or Enigma or HE560 or Ether. But then I got the Liquid Carbon and on that amp, the Audeze isn't half bad. I've always felt their phones were like old Caddy's, nice smooth soft yacht ride. The Liquid Carbon takes good control of the bass, so you can actually hear some detail and timbre. The mids are smooth and highs somewhat muted, but present... the whole presentation has a kind of dark, lush, hushed, dampened presentation. If I need more dynamic sound, I switch over to my modded HD800. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I've yet to hear an HD650 or 600 that I've really liked. HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!

Contacted Audeze about possibility to retrofit my LCD-2s with Fazors. Anybody know if that is even possible?

Quick thoughts on 650 vs LCD2.
    • Oh man, these are sooo good, knocked my socks off as soon as I put them on. I really hoped I wasn't suffering from new toy syndrome, but immediately I had a sense that the LCD2 was in trouble.
    • Treble heaven, so smooth, yet more air around notes, and it's extracting more plankton compared to the 2's. I keep searching for tracks with pianos and violins, I've never heard them sounding like this before, decay and timbre is more natural---on the LCD2, these instruments seem to hit a wall and drop off.
    • Yes, I'm sacrificing a wee bit of bass extension and textures, but low end notes definitely sound more natural. Well recorded electronic music sounds great, but shitty recordings, I have to give to the LCD2. It's all good, since I don't listen to much of that anyway. Bass is definitely tighter than what I heard on previous 650s (thanks to the dynamat mod), not as wooly as I first anticipated.
    • Mids are comparable (both headphones provide luscious vocals)... but I always thought that some of the LCD2's lower end (as tight as it may be) detracts from fully enjoying the mids.
    • Definitely brighter than what I expected, and that's a good thing; was worried about veil. Sense of space is amazing though, this must be some of the mods at work (coin mod and foam removed, I think?), this is where the LCD2 loses badly. Especially with them being bulky, I hardly ever got that "out of head" experience that I've been craving more and more.
    • Comfort, well we all know that the LCD2 is a torture device compared to the weightlessness of the 650. This has been my main issue with the LCD2 and seeing that the 650 basically does everything the Audezes do (actually a good number of things better), while keeping a more trim figure... these are the headphones that I've been looking for.
I'm loving the 650 more and more each day. It doesn't cease to impress. Hearing them reminds me of listening to the Bifrost Multibit (in comparison to the Bifrost uber)---everything sounds cohesive. I'm rediscovering a lot of music I've been ignoring due to the constricted soundstage and lower resolution of the LCD2. The 650 do way more things right than they do wrong, I don't even miss the Audeze slam.

I was skeptical when Marv first spoke highly of these, but the Messiah is always right. The 650 hype is real. So goodbye LCD2, hello Gungnir Multibit money. Time to build a system around the 650 and see what they can really do.

Very interesting. I have my 650 un-modded as I like the lush tone and the darker signature. I've been debating going fazor or pre fazor but I don't think it's going to be worth it over the 650 :/ Cheers for the impressions I enjoyed reading :)

Not sure what you are trying to say?

Nobody really seem to know and Audeze isn´t responding.
