Volumio has Tidal Connect in their plans, but the holdup seems to be on the Tidal side. From the Volumio forum...

On the MoOde forum, there is skepticism that Tidal will cooperate with Pi developers.

He mentions an interesting point, that Spotify Connect integration did not come from Spotify, but from hacking by the open source community

The Jerry Garcia Band has finally come to Tidal with some live recordings. As well as his albums with David Grisman. No Cats Down Under the Stars yet though. Such a great album.

    This is very interesting.
Square Has Discussed Acquiring Jay-Z’s Tidal Service (Bloomberg News)
I don't see any logic in a payment company acquiring Tidal. Perhaps Jack Dorsey has a personal interest in music and just wants to get into the business, like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos building rocket ships.

I hope it’s not true. Dorsey is also founder and CEO of Twitter, any time social media companies who also run ads start accumulating additional ways to track user’s habits or interests it’s a bad thing.

So someone added tidal connect to the raspberry pi, this should work with most audio distros (I installed it on a hybrid version of moode).

    https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=297771

    1) it works via selecting the hitide streaming option
    2) but uses binaries of dubious origin
    3) so may not always work
    4) and may do nefarious things now or in the future (tho probably not)
    5) to restore normal distro operation select your phone or whatever from tidal as the service hijacks alsa.

I wish Tidal had better music discovery features. It’s probably the worst of all steaming services in this way. I have accounts with google mudic and Amazon just for the music discovery. Google is probably the best. Google Play was even better but gone now. I hate Spotify.

No, Hifiberry hat here but I believe I got it working. Much simpler than I imagined. I am sure I could get it to work on other distros with easy, I would think roopie would have the most annoyances. Well I believe it works, but I don't have tidal. So this i as far as I will go at this time.
