TIDAL voucher for 6 month HiFi trial

Credit to user myaudioaccount123 on Reddit. Steps:

New users click on the menu and then "redeem voucher" and enter SPRINT1 then choose a username and password

Those with accounts login, click on the menu, and then "redeem voucher" and enter SPRINT1

The voucher codes are SPRINT1, SPRINT2, SPRINT3, SPRINT4, SPRINT5, and SPRINT6; they all worked for me so my account is a free trial through 2020. I do believe this is limited to US users so you'll have to route thru VPN if you're outside the US.

 

Wow.. I wonder if Tidal will really honor this or if they will reset expiration dates to one per person. I just kept going out of curiosity and stopped at like SPRINT16 and it says I'm good until December of 2025. They can't make money this way with the number of people that will be seeing this on Reddit.

 

I keep getting an Error when I click on Voucher, so maybe they figured this out...

Edit. Signing out, hitting voucher, then signing back in when prompted let me get there, and SPRINT1 works!

 

Yeah, I was just able to do it. Subscription until 2025, too. Damn... is this even legal?

 

Yeah, definitely a bug, I can't imagine them letting this go. Hopefully, they don't wipe out the time completely and still allow for the 6 month trial.

 

Applying the voucher, hitting back and then applying the same voucher again = infinite free tidal hifi. Someone's gonna get fired for this.

OTOH, doesn't work at all here in the UK. When Spotify get their shit together enough to offer lossless, I'm afraid I'm dropping Tidal like it's hot, for various reasons.

(Also, I logged in and got a wall of Jay-Z. I don't normally mind him, and may even have a couple of his albums somewhere, but seriously, this is taking the piss, that can f**k right off.)

 

Haha yeah. His album just came out, exclusively on Tidal, and he's a part owner.

 

I noticed that too. Real subtle. I'm also not sure of the master albums page ordering but he's there too... I think its alphabetical when they feel like it?

We may be able to get away with 6 months if not too many people know of this.

And I give credit to Tidal they made FLAC audio so much easier and cheaper despite their shortcomings.

Its like the cost of one flac album on many sites for a month of Tidal.

 

Oddly, this wasn't lost on me. He's riding it like a lubed-up clowncar right now.

 

Subscribed through what seems like forever. Not sure how long this will last but hopefully they will maintain at least the free 6 months, which is already a pretty generous trial period.

Oh shit, that's terrible.

Assuming you have found the service suitable to your needs, it seems reasonable that you would pay to continue using it.

A couple of cents might even end up the artists hands...

 

I think this deal is dead. All the codes show as invalid now.

 

..aaand more Jay-Z email spam from Tidal this morning. I get that he owns a chunk of the company, but he really needs someone around him with the security and authority to be able to tell him when to stop, and to use the word "no". Saturation marketing can actually be counter-productive.

At least the service is mostly working right now. A few months ago, there were so many intermittent errors with random tracks refusing to play (regardless of client, OS, machine and network, so not a local issue), it was essentially worse than not having a subscription. If you're one of those dinosaurs who still listens to an album in its entirety, having to give up three tracks in because the next track won't play is quite annoying. I'm glad that they fixed whatever was going wrong (possibly some CDN issues?).

 

To be fair if you search back this was actually leaked 4 months ago. I'm surprised it only stopped today.

Students get a discounted rate as well in certain regions, I probably need to VPN into US to get that since my email is still valid surprisingly.

 

Still skipping his album. He and his wife Beyoncé are trademarking the names of their children. Seriously why is that necessary? That is like Gene Simmons trying to claim the Metal horns hand sign just because he can. Which he f'ing did try!

Jay Z can keep his album. I like Tidal enough to pay for it as the music library and FLAC-store are great.
