I second Gotham, they did a nice job on that, and the actors are almost too perfect for the job.

Currently watching Killjoys. Some Canadian show that SyFy produced and... It's actually very entertaining. It reminded me of Firefly/Serenity. Stupid plot it seems, but again, I've seen worse.

Need to watch all episodes of Fear the walking dead. They're just a few.

Tomorrow though... New season of The Walking Dead!!!! Can't wait!!!

Killjoys is good entertainment. I also liked Dark Matter.

Yeah, that one is in my queue as well! ;) Looks like fun with a more integrated/fleshed-out story.

Hard to enjoy shows after finishing The Wire. Incomparably good.

^ Really loved The Wire too - and it's hard filling those shoes. If you haven't already you could check out "The Corner" - it was a 6 part pre-cursor miniseries prior to the Wire. Much of the content/characters comes from the same book that the Wire was based around. Also features some of the same actors. It helped me in the immediate aftermath of Wire withdrawal.

I'm looking for something new post- Mad Men. I miss Don Draper.

    Gotham season 1 2/5 or 5/10

Gotham is based on an interesting premise that it satisfies, but weakly. It follows the police career of Jim Gordon instead of the vigilante work of Bruce Wayne. Much of the writing and acting is two-dimensional; even the actors often seem to know it. Two prominent exceptions are Gordon and the Penguin. The bad-guy characters are almost all caricatures without any redeeming qualities, only a pervasive darkness of soul. Their lack of swear words is unrealistic in contrast.

Fashions and technologies can be to blended successfully to create a broader time spectrum but the effect here is unintentionally comical. Moreover, there's no unifying artistic period or movement: not Gothic, not Art Deco. Nothing really stands out about the city, a remarkable oversight considering that Batman is the most civic of comic superhero tales.

To its credit, the series builds up the backstory of many later main characters--but little else. Batman fans, depending on their standards, will either love it blindly or be disappointed.

Working through a backlog at the moment. Halfway through True Detective season 2, need to start 4th season of continuum, 5th season of Homeland, 3rd season of The Blacklist and I've got a few new series tagged to watch to see if it is interesting.

You assholes need to watch The Expanse when it airs next month. I think they're doing an online showing of the first episode this Monday, though.

Book series is f'ing awesome and a shit ton of fun to read. Lots of good people working on the TV adaptation, and SyFy is throwing tons of money at it.

The Man in the High Castle (Amazon) 4/5 or 8/10

I originally had intended not to watch The Man in the High Castle, as I did not wish to adulterate my sense of that alternate world as presented in the novel. Once I became aware that the series would deviate almost completely from the original story, I decided to try it. Though different from the novel, it is quite good on its own terms. Nevertheless, it highly preferable to read the book first so that your sense of its characters and society will not be corrupted by their representation in the television series.

As a side point, I am gratified that Americans have the opportunity to become aware of the barbarity of Imperial Japan alongside the well-known viciousness of Nazi Germany. In America, the Japanese crimes have too long been forgotten or obscured because of the greater evil of German crimes, especially the mass-murder of Europe's Jews in the Holocaust.

Even as one encounters so much which we justly condemn, we can also appreciate those aspects of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan that made them proud societies and our most worthy adversaries.

First episode of The Expanse available early online (TV air date is Dec. 14th):

You can also find it on SyFy's site, their Facebook page, and some other locations.

Do note that the vocal track may be hard to hear at times, primarily due to the fact they put up a 5.1 stream that isn't playing nicely with stereo downmixing. The book authors noted this on Twitter and said it should be "fixed" for the TV airing.

Non-readers may find the episode a bit dense and fast-paced. The books similarly kind of throw you into things, but with more time to build the world through text. It will take several episodes before you really start to get a feel for all the characters and start to see how the multiple story lines are going to tie together, much like the books. But I can promise the payoff will be worth sticking with it.

That said, as a book reader, I think they did a wonderful job adapting the book based on this episode alone and can't wait to see the rest of the season!

Well then, by god, ignore all the Syfy trash, and start watching Justified immediately. IMHO right at the top of the best tv shows of all time with Breaking Bad.

Does it get better? Seen a few episodes of season 1 and thought it was pretty cheesy.

And if you somehow liked SOA check out Peaky blinders.....its basically SOA with a "real" story/acting/production/etc. :p

Mr robot was pretty cool though, even though it was somewhat predictable. Also better call saul was surprisingly good imo.
