Verum Audio - Exciting high performance DIY planar

Disliked because the very concept of comparing audio via youtube video is... well, words fail me.

 

I like oluvs gadgets switcher. But I compare cans to original, not between each other.

 

I don't have a problem with what you tried to do but how you did it. Come on man that voice is just...what were you thinking?! Sound like yourself, for everyone's sake.

A few words would be great as well, because audio comparing in a YouTube video is...complicated and that would help a ton.

I'm not that good to describe sounds in words and think that sometimes confusing.
Like I'd say Phantom is warmer than Verum One on mids, but it's hard to describe how much warmer is that.
Sound comparison videos can give an idea of how they sounds different (not how they really sound) even though the sounds had been distorted by the mic, headphone you use to listen and the YouTube compression.

Anyways, I'd like to try doing this in words.
-Bass
Verum One is tighter and hits deeper. It gave me "Wow" when I first listened to it, the quality is so nice.
Phantom has more bass for sure. It's more focus on the mid bass and giving the "Boom" punch.

-Mids
This is where these two headphones sound dramatically different.
Verum One offers more details and sounds brighter, dryer in comparison.
Phantom emphasizes on the lower mids so the vocals sound creamy and also muddier. Funny thing is that, instruments like guitars and keys sound even darker than vocals on Phantom, so Phantom is more vocal-forward than Verum One even though with the mids dip.

-Highs
Verum has more energetic and fuller sounds on highs, when the Phantom doesn't perform well on upper highs. But don't forget about the even darker mids on Phantom, it makes the hi-hats and cymbals sound louder on Phantom, they are still warm though.

I think they both are not known for wide soundstage, but they are not narrow for sure.

I talked about the Phantom more than Verum One because Verum One sounds very right to me. It's like a reference in this comparison. What I can expect for Verum 2 are more details and maybe add a little more characters.

About the pitch shift... It's still weird to hear my own voice through video. Someday I might conquer it.

 

I got curious and just came back from Joann's and picked up some sheer curtain fabric LOL I couldn't find the exact model you used, but got something similar.

btw this mod also works well with Verum 1 as well. Treble Clarity does improve as you mentioned. It brings it up just enough to make it more lively sounding. Upper mids sound more even now similar to HD6x0-ish. Sometimes I could hear very slight harshness in modern pop vocals when I plug it straight to my macbook pro, but I don’t hear it in my main listening rig. Bass feels slightly more extended as well. I feel like this mod + electrical tape mod might work very well together.

 

It's always weird, hearing one's own voice on a recording. What you have to remember is that that is how everybody else else hears it all the time, and it is normal. What's weird is if you change it.

 

Placed an order yesterday for some Verum Ones (I'm perfectly okay with a 2 - 3 month delay, I understand the circumstances!)

I got a weird error page after "checkout" and never got any type of confirmation (invoice or receipt or email) or anything.

For those of you who have ordered post-kickstarter...Is this typical? My card has the pending charge, but I have no confirmation of what I ordered..and that error page I got is why I am curious! I want to make sure I don't ask again in 3 months and find out something went wrong.

 

I had the same experience. I did get an email from the payment provider WayForPay though.

 

Thanks for the reply. I got in contact with wayforpay on FB messenger..and they said my payment needed further confirmation..and to respond to the email they sent. But I 100% don't have the email (yes I checked spam).

So 1. Glad I called, because things weren't submitted correctly. And 2. I have no way to confirm/verify since I am not getting the emails

 

Yeah, the ordering experience isn't quite seamless. I had an issue too, which the WayForPay folks were pretty good about sorting out, and I did eventually receive my Verum One, though communication in general has been very spotty.

 

Small update:
Today i've finally received magnets and already start assembling. I owe headphones to people from the last week of December. Those units will be shipped within few days.
Now Ukraine is on quarantine - almost everything has stopped: factories, public transports, cinemas, restaurant etc.
As any manufacture I have partners from which I order some parts.
Right now I can tell that I have enough parts to ship January orders. After that I will not have enough headbands. I make all operations with headband expcept steel hardening by myself. Unfortunately all factories that I know in Ukraine that can perform such operation are closed now.

I have 2 hundreds of already bent headbands that are mounted on such type of chasiis:


cause during heat treatment thin steel can be deformed and I can't make this last operation ;(
Sorry, I can't reply to everyone personally on the question: "where ir my unit?" but I'll try make such updates.

p.s. Neither I had an intention to steal people money in past nor now. Corona virus is a true force majeure and all I can do from my side is to inform how the process goes.

 

While whole Ukraine is on quarantine I'm trying to assemble as much Verums as I can in my house. I've transfered major amount from parts to my flat.

TLDR:
He says it might be a better plan for seniors and the immune-vulnerable to practice social isolation (in their homes), rather than everyone, but we need more data.

That's because Ukraine took the amazing step of voluntarily giving up it's nuclear weapons. I think it may have been the only country ever to do so.

 

We gave up nuclear weapons cause it was useless for us All launch codes and satellite targeting system was in Russia
