I'm a huge fan of gypsy/manouche guitar (in the style of Django). Sébastien Giniaux is one of the stars of this genre. All manouche players are virtuosic & influenced to some degree by American swing/jazz of the '30s/'40s (played often by Django). Sébastien seems more of a purist, relying more on rigorous improvisation influenced by Spanish/Iberian guitar & classical literature.

Here he is playing one of my favorite Django tunes. Listen to his beautiful tone, clear intonation, and highly expressive musical choices:

"Atmospheric" is the perfect word. Great cut.

We could have an entire thread just for soundtracks. I'll post some of my favorites here...

Many people only know of LBM from Paul Simon's GRACELAND. I was lucky enough to have a brother-in-law from South Africa (born in Soweto, categorized in pre-apartheid S.A. as "colored"). An interesting fellow. We had in common bottomless love of music/many genres. He played me many unfamiliar & wonderful cuts from LBM, as well as Miriam Makeba, Abdullah Imbrahim, others.

LBM presents vocal music as good as any on earth.

This is amazing. I never heard of this woman before. If you'd explained this concept to me, I would've laughed in your face. How could such a project work?

But it does work. She has an ideal rock 'n' roll voice...plenty of bite, range, expression. I find myself wishing John Lennon was dueting with her (he had IMO the best rock voice in history).

I keep hearing wonderful music on this thread.

And yeah, I'm not listening to the new Tool songs recorded from live shows. I've waited this long. I'll wait for the album.
