I'm crazy about this tune in particular, but the whole recording is pretty special. This is Paul Simon taking his international vibe to Brazil, after the huge success of GRACELAND. Some great Brazilian percussionists are on this cut. I love how it fronts rhythm above all else. A great tune from Simon's greatest period.

Another LSD cut. She has a huge voice...a major talent.

This tune is a torture test for voice. There's no pause for breath at the end of each impassioned bridge--the very next beat starts the chorus again. I don't know how she does it.

I'm actually really surprised how well the Auteur plays music styles like this.

Also, I'm in an emo mood, so this fits right in.

Okay I will join you. That bass line, the production values and that hook with the super fun sounds and samples. Infectious and perfect Pop. K-Pop is genius...

Me is a stunning track, I only discovered it and CLC a week ago. I also love the video. What a song.

Never managed to get into 2NE1, but I’ll check that song out

You can be influenced by Brian Wilson/Beach Boys w/o being a pastiche.

One of my favorite Brazilian vocalists, a heavyweight composer & percussionist, was overtly influenced by the Beatles on several tunes, mostly the arrangements/scoring. That makes him no less original or creative.

Check out this tunes & see if I'm right (Carlinhos Brown's "Water My Girl"). The "Penny Lane" influence is overt, though the looping rhythms & chants are beyond whatever the Beatles did:

    It's Blues-y. It's Balls-y. It's gotta swagger. It's got soul. I just stumbled across it.... and I think I'm a fan.

I'm in the middle of the honeymoon period with some new gear, and I've been trying it out on guitar-focused music. I'm moving into strings now, and this artist (Zoe Keating) is front of mind as I listen critically.

Witness her build an ensemble with herself in this driving cello arrangement.
