Went to the record store today and got a copy of DSOTM from MFSL, the Japanese disc. Had a broken case but it was just the front part, so I swapped one from a different Mofi CD and it works fine. Going to check it out tonight.
This is kinda like Fight Club
Thanks for reminding me to go listen to some PJ!
Highway To Hell baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am listening to my favorite Genesis album:
@winders - The science experiment continues. I swear I don't just sit around and listen to DSOTM all the time and frankly, after this wraps up I'll be good for awhile.
That said - I prefer, and by no small margin, this version to the original blackface "Non-TO" CD. That version does sound a bit more raw and on the vinyl, that's a good thing because that format naturally tempers things a touch whereas on CD - it's forward in places and just not nearly as enjoyable as the MFSL. Also, the imaging is better, the whole presentation feels more connected and it's got a VERY analog feel to it, in my opinion.
You being a vinyl guy I thought you would like the MFSL mastering. It is my clear favorite but I do have 3 other masterings so you aren’t any stranger than I am.
Strangely, I don’t like the MFSL mastering of “The Wall”. The best is the Harvest West German mastering. I have a spare set if you are interested....
That is bizarre, I was just thinking... I wonder how The Wall sounds on MFSL. PM me and yes, I'd be interested. I am still angling to get a copy of Meddle on MFSL as well. Wish they did Animals. I do have a 1st CD of Meddle coming, so looking forward to hearing that against my vinyl copy which I treasure.
Here's one you might not have heard...
Carl Verheyen -Lonestar
YouTube is garbage compared to the Steve Wilson remixes of Yes. So good
Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds on my K240 M
