C. Tangana and Nathy Peluso, ‘Ateo’
Some nice rich female vocals on a lazy Sunday.....
Still addicted to this one:
I put on Spotify's auto-generated Funk Mix. This is going to be a good day. I challenge you to have a bad day when listening to funk.
Listening to Mercurial World by Magdalena Bay:
They cite Grimes, Chairlift, and Charli XCX as influences—three artists I'm quite fond of. I definitely see the Grimes influence with a bit of Chairlift thrown in, but I don't get much Charli XCX from this. I'm digging it on my LCD-3s for a warm, smooth listen.
If you want to hear what the GenG's can do with bass lines, give a listen to this album, in particular to the 3rd track If I Only Had a Brain. These are the only HP's I've personally heard (limited experience here admittedly) that reproduce the bass hits like my old 2-channel system did. There's some pretty interesting and weird shit on this album that I find fun to listen to.
I can't believe how much I am enjoying this album.
I'm never seeing this thread while actually listening, but it was...
(And, curiously enough, despite the state of my ears, noticing that my rip of the vinyl is so much better than a digital download. I am not saying this is a rule, but, depending on the period of the music, the digital copy, etc, it is not rare)
I'm a sucker for instrumental fusion. Matteo Mancuso, Riccardo Oliva, and Slavatore Lima covered Jaco's "The Chicken" and it floored me.
This at 9 years old? pinch me. Tell me it's autotune and stuff. That, or, hell I want to see her when she's 29!
She must have had a very nice stereo growing up and a fine collection of music. So get that rig going, for the next generation.
