Listening (n' watching)...
I love this label so much. Just what I needed tonight; dark, apocalyptic, something to take me to a different world.
Curious as to how many people here listen to ambient music and why. I know few people who like this slower music - some even express feelings of anxiety. For me, I find it very meditative, almost like a sort of prayer. As such, it can be therapeutic.
Whether it's the sound of the depths of hell, a tale of survival in post-apocalyptic wastelands, or a journey deep into outer space, I find such soundscapes emotionally rewarding. They can often bring me to something resembling a hypnogogic state in a dark room with headphones, but when I am working, it also helps me focus without the distraction that more intrusive music offers.
Working on Python. This is appropriate...
This is my flavour of chill right now.
I just find it amazing the effect that music can have on the mind...I find it incredibly soothing and beautiful. A distilled musical beauty if you will. It's not something I'd put on & 'just' listen to, but is the perfect sonic backdrop many times.
Heard this at a Starbucks and finally found out what it was called
Album is also available on Bandcamp
I have used both ambient and techno to accomplish this. But I've found that almost any music, provided you're in the mood for it, can accomplish the same thing. I used to do homework in high school with Motörhead and Priest blasting through my headphones. Now I tend to choose the music that matches my mood, and it helps me get "in the zone" for coding, and stay there more effectively.
This must be cranked to get the full effect. When it hits, oh man....
@slankoe , have you heard this guy?
