Still no need unless it's in the loaner tracking thread. Profile posts are better utilized for non-loaner updates like this.

That's a good point, I kinda forgot about those since they're often under utilized on most forums. I would still argue it would get to more people on the thread since less people check profiles, but it's not worth debating it further lol. The current system here works fine. If you're really interested you'd be checking the thread anyway.

I've had a thread I follow on head fi on something that doesn't get posted to all that often have a post I was all excited for that was just a guy saying he was surprised his forum rank was so low...

Thank you for that, I've still yet to figure out what profile posts are good for. That little touch of clarification helps

I don't mind the... harsher climate here, helps refine us as posters. @Galm if you'd like constructive criticism there are still some half decent posters on HF who can help with that... or there used to be

Because behind the veil of shit posting and no-tolerance towards stupidity, people here are on average genuinely nice people, who will go out of their way to help if you've shown some effort and thoughtfulness to your questions.

Also, it's usually a bit of a chuckle to see people or products get tarred and feathered without understanding they're being told in our own polite way to piss off.

I meant criticism for the site, not for users. Because this thread is kinda tooting its own horn. Nothing wrong with that, I just meant a ying for the yang.

Unless that is what you mean then yeah, no idea how you'd find those people on Head-Fi.

I guess I'm unusual but I don't overly enjoy watching people or products get shit on. Rob Watts takes a lot of shit here, but I bet the guy really does like his own stuff... I'd rather point fingers at Chord, not a guy who still can engineer a product better than most by no small margin. Dave sounds great, it just isn't priced so. Did he make that call? No.

I like that people are quick to call out bullshit, but it doesn't need to be followed up by personal attacks. Mocking Chord followers when most of them just don't know any better. I'd rather help them out instead, or let them enjoy their stuff if their happy. Hell, I own a Mojo and like it a lot. It was probably over priced, but a helluva lot better than my Oppo HA-2 ever was. And something larger like an iDSD makes no sense for actually using on the go. It's hard to remember the line between the product and the people sometimes.

A criticism thread might be good because useless suggestions about how to run the site could go there instead of reducing the signal in other threads and the moderators could avoid reading it. Just like a suggestion box at work.

This site is run by volunteers, it works pretty good and if something is really broken they fix it. Can't ask for much more than that.

Haha the difference is for me at least if I'm doing something voluntarily it's because I love it. So I wouldn't ignore a suggestion box as I'd also want to always be striving to improve. At work half the time even the people in charge are just in it for the money. I wrote the gaming laptop guide on NBR for example and really find nothing more fun than getting challenged on my recommendations. It not only teaches me more but helps improve the guide if I'm incorrect. I'm sure the folks in charge here feel at least somewhat similar. Otherwise I don't know how they'd have the drive to stay as active and helpful as they are.

Either way, a suggestion box would free up other threads like you said if they really don't wanna see it.

(Keep up the awesome work mods!)

there's a lot of solid reply about the value of various elements, which I appreciate.
upon reflection within the White Lodge, I feel the most valuable element within SBAF is =
    real. humans.

as in- many online folks actually MEET each other in the physical plane. share words. talk.
wear t-shirts. make jokes. drink a beer. talk to @Tyll Hertsens and @Hands over a 3 margarita lunch and just be. friends.
to realize there is way more important real world sh*t than audio between us.
and to help each other not purchase or do stoopid things.

when the basement of @MisterRogers is a welcome place to listen, discern, demo and enjoy chains of varying scope- mission accomplished.
when meeting @zerodeefex in a colorado parking lot after midnight to exchange gear without getting robbed- mission accomplished.

find your microcosm of SBAF within your region and focus.

    1. Why has this thread been necro'd?
    2. A suggestions thread does exist, but only for members of the moose hat club.
    3. I like it when people complain that we are not more neutral good rather than chaotic neutral tending toward good; or not more egalitarian democratic rather than authoritarian.

    1. Forza Audioworks felt like rezzing I guess? At least it's a thread that kinda makes sense to rez vs some others... Not too harmful and I appreciated reading the input from more experienced users.

    2. Whoosh lol

    3. I'm not complaining, but I didn't know you were shooting for chaotic neutral. It's all in good fun in that case. Was just unsolicited observation. Nothing here needs drastic change as others have implied, it's the best working system for useful posts of any audio forum.
Middle of no where problems :( I wish I lived somewhere like NYC where that's easy I'd much prefer to demo stuff myself instead of having to ask others on something subjective like audio. But that sounds really awesome! Sounds a little too good though, maybe add a little more chaos? Can we occasionally get robbed in the parking lot? :p

With courier-status screenshots? Do they do that on HF? When I see this I wonder why the guy thinks I'm not going to believe him about where his box is. Which, as, others have said, nobody cares about anyway. Unless one seriously needs help and advice about the delivery chain going wrong.

I suppose this is the legacy of the Twitter thing.

Delivery updates are pure noise, but the obsession with serial numbers is worse. No one cares about the serial number of your $200 headphone from Massdrop.
