@TheIceman93 , cinematographer- very cool. You folks are often the unheralded auteurs.

In the semiconductor industry, specialising in debug. Basically making sure the computer beep boops and disciplining it if it goes beep beep instead.

I like my job, but I'm actually more interested in software development (so much less headache) so studying that on the side too.

Oh hell yes... getting to do skilled, creative stuff with amazing photographic gadgetry! Cool indeed!

Actually, that sounds quite glamorous to me too. Computing at the deep, hardware level.

Band director here. Lots of kids and responsibilities, but rarely does work seem like work!

Yep. If you can hit it, scrape it, shake it, or kick it, I'll play it.

MSc in Physics, then spent several years travelling in Asia/Australia and working in Taipei as an English teacher, followed by admin work in a language school. Moved back to Canada and couldn't get a job due to being out of the loop for so long. Returned to Taipei and have been a technical writer at an industrial/embedded computer company for 12 years. I put together user's manuals and proofread/bullshit-filter marketing material and technical articles.

Many years ago, I had a friend who wrote service manuals (for Xerox copying machines, I think). He said that he got paid for doing his favourite thing: taking stuff apart and putting it back together again!
Nice to know that there is a company, somewhere in the world that does such filtering! :)

Yes, very much my friend's thing!

Sadly, he died young: one of those diseases where nerves just stop working. There was no manual on taking his nervous system apart and putting it back together again. :(

I work at a pharmacy as a tech though I will be going back to school in June for my PharmD. I know a lot of people who can't imagine working in such a stressful environment but I actually enjoy it. I like completing tasks and working in retail pharmacy, it's a lot of small tasks you do to process prescriptions. I'm looking forward to getting my PharmD and finally not getting underpaid.

Edit: Jokingly I say, I just LOVE drugs and it's kinda true. I don't use drugs all that much but I love to be around it... lol.

Recently I manage geographic information systems and databases for a small oil company. My official title is GIS Manager / Database Architect, but we basically picked that out of a hat (I was the 3rd employee on board at the company). I've been doing GIS/database work for the past ~10 years with music and waiting mixed in before that.

Geologist. Worked for a few years in the oil and gas industry, and now back in school working on my MSc.

Once done, the idea is to get into med school as I've always wanted (unfortunately fully realized at 30).

The bullshit-filtering is not in my official job description but rather something I take it upon myself to do. The marketing peeps want to use all kinds of flowery superlative language and I try to balance it out with realism. I also catch the occasional hardware bug when clarifying information I've been given be the product managers and engineers.

Lol. It's much improved, but I certainly get it. Still has quite the learning curve.

@Xecuter you reminded me I need scaling. Too bad you're faraway in Kangaroo land. No friendly discount!
