Yes, I'm not sure what's going on with the smiling CD god of death and music, but it is funny.

 

Off the top of my head, and subject to correction (@Koth Ganesh?)...

This is Krishna. He is at the court of some king or other. One of the princes has a history of being extremely obnoxious, and Krishna has nearly killed him on a previous occasion. Begged for mercy, he says, OK, the guy can have 99 more chances, but, obnoxiosity number 100: that's it. Moved to HTWFaIP and dead. Head off.

Being a god, Krishna is able to easily produce a lethal CD, and here it is, about to be sent to do its lethal thing.

The story is part of the great (and vast) Hindu epic Mahabharat, of which a truly wonderful on-the-cheap over-40-episodes TV serial was made in 1988. I was hooked. Some European guy later took it on and I didn't get ten minutes in.

Is that the series where Arjuna fires a "cruise arrow" which multiples into hundreds of arrows in the air and most of the episode is just about that arrow?

That should be the Bhagavad-Gita, but it's been a few years since I read it and it's hazy.

 

I believe the Gita is a story within the giant Mahabharata

 

Remembered the wrong title (Gita is part of a part of Mahabharata), the arrow thing I recalled is from the Ramayana. Arjuna does do the Unlimited Arrow Works thing as well.

 

That's the one. And they have lots of film reversed, and then I suppose they mix it so that arrows met arrows. The funniest thing is that elephants falling over in battle is obviously the camera being turned sideways!

Indeed. Before the battle. Arjun asks Krishna why he should kill his friends and relatives, and Krishna replies, "A Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do." "And I'm... Well, god, I suppose." That bit is the Gita. It is not very long. And I claim my explanation of it to be the shortest ever!

edit: Arjun also asks Krishna, "Who are you, like for real?" And Krishna says something like, "You don't know in this life, but you and I have known each other in every life and, yeah I'm god."

Krishna's revalation of himself as part of the dynamics of the universe is one of the "better" FX jobs in the TV series.​

Ramayana has some weird stuff too. But for magic weapons, Mahabharat can't be beat. Here's my mad, wild, crazy theory: atomic warfare is not new.

It just amazes me that people have written volumes and lectured for hours on that thing, when the upshot of it is so amazingly simple!
