Why is this the forum that must remain nameless over on Head-fi?

Hi!

I learned of this forum and the demise of its former form from Tyll at his site. Then summarily forgot about it.

I was reminded about here by a post on the Head-fi Grace M9Xx thread pointing to the great comparison thread and measurements here. I joined cuz of that.

But, that post and all my and other's discussions related to it (over on Head-fi) were deleted. And later when I wrote 'super best audio friends' in a post, that was deleted and a got a short note from a mod that didn't go into why, only that I can't link to or name you.

I have no skin in the game and it didn't bug me. But, human nature, I'm curious ...someone willing to fill me in to what transpired to leave such vitriol over there against here?

I do not know the details, but they my guess is they are jealous of our site. Perhaps someone that is more in the know could answer more appropriately.

I saw AB do it for his measurement of the Bifrost Multi, I think.

 

No, I painfully repost the same content in both places, trying to avoid any issues that might exist. So I create the template offline and then following each site's conventions insert the data by hand at both.

No worries. It would be convenient to have a master server to which links could be pointed on the forums. But not in the cards yet.

 

So they are still playing that game!!?? Ugh... With so much good content here already, a more laid back approach, and they are still butt hurt!?

It doesn't really make sense. Oh well...

 

Some people are unwilling to learn from others. Either they think already know it all but they don't, or they know they don't know it all but don't want to be reminded of that.

Here's an analogy.

South Korea and North Korea hate each other. However, while it is allowed in South Korea to discuss the news and events taking place in North Korea, it is strictly forbidden in North Korea to do vice versa, which could even get you arrested/tortured/forced to work at a mine/killed along with your family. One country (I won't mention where) usually, though not always, tends to speak the truth and tell the difference between right and wrong while not being afraid to say so, while the other country tries to sugar-coat and pretend everything is good and well because their supreme leader/dictator said so. There are many instances of people defecting from one of the countries to the other, but hardly ever the other way around once settled in.

SuperBAF and Head-Fi hate each other. However, while it is allowed in SuperBAF to discuss Head-Fi, it is forbidden in Head-Fi to even mention SuperBAF at all, which could even get you perma-banned. One website (I won't mention where) usually, though not always, tends to speak the truth and tell the difference between awesomesauce and craptastic gears while not being afraid to say so, while the other website tries to sugar-coat and pretend every audio gear is good and special in their own way (reinforced by the ideal belief that "everyone hears different") because their supreme leader/dictator said so. There are many instances of people defecting from one of the websites to the other, but hardly ever the other way around once settled in.

Now I don't have a lot of love for my own country, but if you had to choose, which country (or website) would you rather settle in?

Its because all the paid advertisers on Headfi have flocked over here to trade reviews for "samples".

You just need to step into someone else's shoes for a while. The other thing with restricting all mention is that it stops anyone here teeing off on them. Is it a form of censorship - some may see it like that (I don't). Again though - Head-Fi is a privately run site - we choose to be here.

 

I kinda wish J U D E could be censored. I mean you know he searches here for mentions of himself...
