Want a fully functioning pair of sr80e for a good price. Cosmetic damages are fine unless they're super serious.

My love for Hemp pair drove me curious whether the magic can be mostly (80-90%?) replicated at much lower price point.

After eye-comparing vintage, i, and e's measurements for the same 325, I found "e" had the smoothest and recessed highs around 4k-9khz range. Hypothesizing that with some pads rolling (f-cushion, geekrias, etc) sr80e could be fairly close to my taste. Want a set of objective and subjective experiments to test for myself.

So, please shoot me a pm if you have a pair to sell. Note that I'm looking for only "e" model.

I bless you on your search, a pair that brought me joy for over a decade.

From my initial research, I set the following assumptions
    • Grado cushions other than F (default only with Hemp) might not work for me at all. I have zero hope/expectation -- I WON'T use grado's L/S cushions any day.
    • Among current gen prestige lines, 80e differs from 60e in "unrestricted drivers" (aka zero damping) as per Grado, 125e differs from 80e in thicker cable, 225e differs from 125e in more carefully selected drivers. 60/80/125 come with S-cushions while 225 with L-cushions. By the way, all these inferred from official specifications.
    • So it seems optimal to begin experiments with 80e unless I can get 225e super cheap.
