If someone hands me a time machine, I'm going to pick up So-crates, Billy the Kid, and the Medieval Babes so that I can win the San Dimas High Battle of the Bands.

    Be excellent to each other.

We humans have infinite potential for evil and destruction. Although in such times our greatest advancements and discoveries occur. Think of WWII and how far the world of science and technology advanced because of it. So, no I wouldn't, and even if I did, some other person would fulfill the void left in the time space continuum.

Given the circumstances and karmic vectors of that time, I wonder if not Hilter, perhaps someone else less insane and more militarily capable. I imagine the Star Trek Time Squad of the 27th century or Doctor Who would have to fix the timeline.

Time travel and altering the past can be a dangerous thing. I do not agree with what Hitler did and his vision for an Aryan Race, however if this horrible event wouldn't have taken place, would it have taken place by someone else further down the line? I think "most" of us learned from that terrible mistake, but if it had not had happened, there was no lesson to be learned.

So while I do not agree with the Nazi regime or Hitler's plans - I am not so sure that altering the past would be a good thing.

Precisely. If Hitler didn't make a few crucial mistakes, our world would be a significantly different place (given we were all born post WWII).

On another note, @Negura and I were discussing how history is not given a particular importance in North American culture vs. other countries, and thus we never learn from our mistakes. I wonder how true y'all think that is.

If we didn't have Hitler's fuckups, America wouldn't be the superpower it is today.

I would not kill someone with a world history significance - rather I maybe want to kill Kim II and III of North Korea. Kim I was sorta regionally significant, while Kim II and Kim III are increasingly a local nuisance.

But imagine we have no Hilter - FR and DE will probably not reconcil (which means no EU); CCCP possibly might extend further west...

Or even Red Alert might happen.

My favourite possible plot of a "No Hitler world" may be:

    - FR and DE would not reconcil, and USSR would have early control as west as FR-DE boarder.
    - A less belligerent Imperial JP for a short time, and US will have resource devoted for a stronger KMT CN. The major point of a KMT CN will be pressuring USSR into a status quo with the rest of Europe.
    - However, given Imperial JP had some dignities favoring the USSR, in a longer run IJP might have a coup d'etat then sign an alternative Axis pack with USSR. Yet it's still quite unlikely USSR could take both European and Far East fronts simultaneously, so there is unlikely a WWII.
    - Given no urgent need to make JP surrender, A-bomb would come into history at a much later stage.
    - Early Cold War

I propose an option C - instead of killing him, lets just draw a cock and balls on his forehead in permanent marker.

True enough that the stupidity I hear from some people where they intend to repeat past historical mistakes makes me want to drink. It happens way to often for comfort.

The question really? Is Minehead better off today than it was before Hilter?
