    80% Agreed.

I wish I had more time to play with this combination. But reality didn't allow it. I promised to return today. I couldn't ask to extend loan. Verite seems to be the most pleasing headphones for the owner, and today is Sat. If I were him, I would be very gloomy if can't enjoy music during weekend.

Plus, I strongly prefer to verify my description on a real-time basis while writing anything, if possible. This forced me to hastily do things within yesterday.

Regarding length, I don't think it too long. But I am still learning what would be optimal. Just trying to avoid simplifications and bullet points, which I think more suitable for (de-facto) verified evaluators whose wording don't need extra definition or context. It's very much like I feel I need to explicit my measurement conditions as specifically as possible while I don't require such for better measurerabators than myself.

PS. off topic, but I like to see Torq's impressions or reviews again here, as I really like his poetic style. Heard he's now active in somewhere else though.. headphone.com?

I miss Torq's reviews. And I can't blame the guy for leaving.

ya cool, go have a platform.

anyone can read his (and pals) content there.
any departure hasn’t affected SBAF quality one bit.

This is all off-topic and I'm dogpiling (appropriate avatar), so:

I think the whole point of this site has always been for severely opinionated but experienced people to share their insight into audio gear; I am severely opinionated about certain things (just ask @SoupRKnowva ;) ), less experienced than most on here, but I choose to hang around this forum more than others because I like the ambiance.

Unlike SBAF the headphone.com forum is more like HF in that people's experiences are just as valid as most others' without their needing to go through trial by fire. Heck, I have an account there and posted a long-winded write-up because I was procrastinating and felt like writing something that didn't have to do with psychology because I was close to flipping my desk over. I still check in from time to time but don't often post because... *shrug*.

@BenjaminBore (sorry for dragging you into this) has seen aforementioned write-up and he knows well enough that it was very much anti-SBAF in both style and length, haha. Different demographics and target audience is all, and I eventually became busy enough that I grew too lazy to summarise it for here. There's room for more than one audio forum on the internet, and while I do think Torq was a valuable contributor (preferences and price ranges notwithstanding), it's not like people aren't allowed to have two browser tabs open. God forbid.

@Vtory I think bullet points at the start with actual body of impressions following (spolier-ed or no) might better suit the attention span of the locals :p

What a swine you are for dragging me into this jungle of verbosity ;)

SBAF is a facilitator. Hosting an environment conducive to the development of strong, informed, trustworthy voices. I say voices only because it implies personality, and a beneficial familiarity of their views, biases, and preferences to contextualise their thoughts.

Things go awry when personal expression is prioritised over communication. Common red flags we have all seen plenty of are the predictable one-two of an excited “review” followed by a WTS, or waxing lyrically and at length about every other aspect beside how in the almighty F a thing sounds. When the word count for what was heard is less than everything else combined you’re in real trouble.

Less is more. But less and good can only be achieved if you have a grasp on a fixed set of relatable terms, while writing concisely. The latter of which takes practice, and lots of it, but has the plus of improving real world communication skills. Stereophile’s glossary of terms is pretty comprehensive, there’s also a good abbreviated one on changstar, and the two terminology threads here on SBAF are required reading. Even so I include my current best understanding of those definitions to minimise confusion.

A few points to consider for new, and some not so new, contributors before posting:

    1. Does it convey your emotional state in relation to the product more than information-rich specifics others can make use of?

    2. This makes sense to you, will it make sense to anyone else?

    3. Write it again with half the word count, then do it again.

PS: I have in my possession irrefutable proof that @Lyer25, and don’t fall off your seats now, is perfectly capable of writing quite concisely if he so chooses!

(Edited, it was coming across a little lofty)

When I saw Benjamin's impressions, I thought be 2 was an alias of universe suede.. which was NOT. Zach just confirmed to me. Believe such a fool is only me, who misunderstood this. lol

Will follow up measurements and subjective analysis for those pads once available. Universe suedes vs Be 2 must be quite interesting to me.

Universe suede perforated (USP) vs Auteur suede perforated (ASP) tested subjectively on the ZMF Verite.
    IMG_20190503_000053.jpg
Sorry for the terrible pic. Auteur pads are on the headphone, Universe below.

    Initial impressions:

USP pads seem pretty even tonally. They have a touch more bass than ASP pads, but less headstage in every direction. Seems a little more even keeled compared to leather perf universe pads.

ASP really lets the treble shine, but it pays off as the staging is out of this world. Much wider and deeper stage. Bass could use a slight EQ nudge up. Treble could use a nudge down too. It's like the Universe suede, but take the FR graph and rotate the whole thing counter clockwise 10 degrees, then throw a bunch of head stage into it.

(Verite still burning in, so this is a pad comparison, not a headphone review.)

    Interesting input!

By the way, which one did you prefer between (non-suede, perforated) verite pads and universe pads on verite? Want to know your tonality tastes to better understand the evaluations.

Well crap, just bought a pair of the perforated Universe suedes, but it seems I'm going to need to try the AS as well..! Have you tried the Be2 pads?

Hard to tell. I hate to dodge the question, but the Verite is still burning in and the FR is still kind of dancing around on me.

The previous demo pair of Verite that Zach had loaned me, I liked the Universe perf pads a fair bit more than the Verite pads. I'd imagine the same will be true here, but it seems the orig demo pair had slightly different foam used in the pads? Possibility that skews the whole thing a different direction, ya know? Or am I misremembering all of that and confusing it with the Aeolus loaner?

I think I've lost my mind. This is fine.

Nope. I ordered these two suede pair before I learned about the Be2 pads.

Auteur Suede sounds right up my alley, wish there was a "touch" less bass than US provides.

I just updated the post above to indicate that both pads are perforated.

    And added potato pic.

I hope I can settle on a leather pad, because I like it much more against the skin than suede.

Interesting suggestion. It gave me an idea...just looked at my underwear. There's a little tag hanging off one of the seams. It says, "Eikon."

I'm trying (and failing) to picture a ZMF sports bra with wooden earcups. It just doesn't seem...practical.

I have one of the last 50" Panasonics made & it has perhaps the smoothest, most grainless image I've ever seen. Love that TV.
