About $500 for not-poop condition? That's a "good" price for me considering it's been superseded by the Elex and I see a lot of Elears F/S in the $500~600 range. $450 or so would be excellent, since that's what @Jinxy245 sold em for not too long ago
I had the pleasure of demoing the Elear when it was pretty new by sheer coincidence, someone pre-ordered one and happened to be in shop when I swung by with a friend. The suck out higher up the FR wasn't to my tastes and there was that tiny bit of tizz in the treble. [1/2]
Purely from a FR standpoint and from others' subjectives the Elex, which is apparently an Elear with Clear pads, helps remedy the balance issues on the older cans. Haven't gotten ears on the Elex or Clear yet, sorry, but fwiw I'd happily have paid $500 for the Elear if I had the means to XD
Just for the record, if you're selling I'm sure there'll be buyers for maybe $600 depending on the condition[2/2]
I am looking to buy. Maybe...athough many have mentioned the weight and strange freq response. Guy is selling a pair locally for 800 dollars which is way to much then.
I will add that in some cases not getting good deals can make sense on account factors like VAT etc. Back when I was actively hunting fountain pens I got a worse deal on a model I wanted than I would have locally because the guy was in EU and that's just how prices were there. Check the cost of buying a used Elear, taxes incl. to measure the $800 against.
You have my commiseration, importing stuff sucks :(
I know what you mean, the Spirit Pros and Classics sounded pretty great, though I was put off buying a pair for portable use because they apparently don't have the best build quality.
They where great, although their swiveling ball-in-socket would crack. Not a question of if, but when. I also like the Spirit Ones. Demo would be best of course.
I was low balling it a bit since I'm 2nd owner & I want to save for something else eventually (Probably Auteur). It's not a bad headphone overall (IMO), especially with different pads...Hands did a write up, and someone actually gave a blueprint for a 3d printed ring for pad rolling in the Elear thread. Comfort wasn't great, but not intolerable for me. I'd say the $500 range is about right. Good luck!
I enjoyed them when I got them for almost $1,000, so being able to get them for $500ish is a great deal. Just keep in mind that Focal's customer service is "unfriendly" at best, and virtually nonexistent for second hand.
Should be 400 at best, since you need to get clear pads or maybe hm5 or dekoni to make them not suck. realistically 500 should be easy. There are 2 on headfi for 475 and 525. Or else get some elex.
Problems with Elex is that with EU import tax it's pretty close to the price of a new Elear. Not sure if I want to spend this much money on something that most likely sounds like a "french" NH/X2.
