@insidious meme yep just got it today. really really like it. got the regular size cause i like phones that fit in my pockets easily since i don't always have a way of carrying them. i'm also not a phone nerd. but i like this one!
Oh nice. I like the direction Google are going with their phones (less so Apple. Talking emoji is a headline feature? WTF?), but I am so tied into iOS/macOS...
yeah i use macs a lot too. but i still went with this phone cause i think the new features of the iphones are silly and i love that the pixel backs up all my pictures online rather than taking up local space, the camera is killer, the phone charges hella fast, and it's pretty crack and water resistant -- all good things for folks w small kids.
hm, i think iOS was more intuitive to me after so many years of use but this shouldn't take long to adjust to and personalize at all. also the latest iOS suuuuux. Not having a physical home button feels a bit weird but the finger reader on the back is actually really really fast, i never bothered using the fingerprint reader on the iphone cause it always tripped up on me.
in fact i think i'll be able to personalize it MORE just need to finish adjusting to android. i can thank @Bill-P and the ZX-2 for getting me started on android haha.
How is battery life? My dream is to find a phone with a nice enough camera that I can take it hiking for a week with an anker battery or something and leave the dslr at home...
yeah that's my goal too. or i have a dynamo hub on my bike that can charge stuff. but yeah its too soon to comment on battery life but it charges up real fast from 0-full. i'll get back to you on battery life
Only very annoyed they killed the headphone jack after endlessly making fun of Apple for doing it last year. The jack on the original might have been weak, but it was still there and infinitely more convenient than trying to remember a dongle. Either have 2 USB-Cs, or keep the damn jack.
I almost, almost regret getting a Note 8. I love it, and I am a dedicated stylus user, but the Pixel 2 looks so awesome, especially the real time translation with their companion ear buds.
What iPhone were you coming from, and how do the pictures compare? I'm considering a similar switch from an iPhone 6s solely for the camera. Most of the pictures I take of my kids are with my phone.
The real time translating earbud is probably the most hilariously deceptive piece of marketing lol. It's literally the app on the phone doing this. On both Andoird and iOS.
@%20 Oddity haha yeah I haven't tried it yet though. Maybe i should just learn all languages :P but so far I've only succeeded at a few of the romance languages and I cheated by inheriting a couple from birth LOL
@elguapo yeah I also came from iPhone 6s and from just playing around yesterday in different light conditions the pixel camera owns. Also videos seem more stable and less saving Private Ryan jittery
@Grahad2 agreed but I did the unthinkable and use a dap for all my music so the jack would've been nice for convenience only. Will have to remember the dongle when traveling though!
