Chill dude, nobody really has an Elear yet, I am sure impressions will pop up once there are more in the wild. Sounds like there are 3 or 4 sets of these out there total, all signs point toward great headphone and great amp. Until then we may have to wait more than 2 hours between asking.

    Need some help here.

I have tried on multiple occasions to send an email to Craig concerning an order on the Black Widow or the Zana Deux to no avail.

First email was dated Jan 16 with follow-up emails in the following months.

Who else could I reach out to?

Glad to hear the first run is shipping smoothly. I'll be stalking and waiting for the next run to place an order. I have my Asgard2 being fed by Theta DS Pro progeny v A... man that rig sings. Made me Bifrost Multibit sound "soft" and lacking big boy dynamics like the old Theta. I don't really see the need for going up to the Gungnir Multibit when I'm not gaining any bits over the 18 bit DAC in my Theta. I just want a damn BW so I can stop upgradeitis and be content.

    Quick mini update

As I was packing for my monthly long distance work stint, I couldn't keep myself away from the Black Widow... So I decided to pack it with me, in my carry on.

Here it is 2000 miles North of Orange County

Originally I planned on bringing my Chord Mojo and Super Dupont HD800. Which is actually not a bad pairing to travel with at all.

    IMG_0043.jpg

Then I thought it would be even better with the Mojo acting as the Black Widow's DAC.

    IMG_0045.jpg
After two evenings of enjoyment, I decided to compare the HD800 out of the Mojo and quickly swap it back to the Black Widow for an A/B comparison. Not really fair but fun none the less. The Mojo has two 1/8" outputs, I had a 1/8" --> 1/4" adapter --> 1/4" --> 4 pin XLR adapter for the HD800, and the other 1/8" output feeding the BW with RCA interconnects, so why not. A lightning quick swap from the 4 pin XLR of the Black Widow to the Mojo's rag tag 4 pin XLR output and away we go.

    IMG_0048.jpg

My initial impressions of the A/B test's were as follows:

Black Widow: Fuller sound from the bottom up through the mid-range without a lack of top end, stayed focused and composed during complex musical passages, more space and separation, a larger 3D soundstage.

Chord Mojo: Thinner/leaner sounding in the bottom end and slightly into the mid-range. Tougher time keeping up during complex/busy musical passages, shallower smaller soundstage, less precise imaging.

I know, I know, it was a dirty fight, but it kept me entertained for a few hours.

I think it's high time this amp got a nickname. I propose 'Bwiddy.' Then when I get my Yggdrasil, I can refer to the combo as 'Bwyggy.'

That's appropriate, in that after buying the amp, the money in my bank account is gone like the wind.
