Has anyone who has watched all their life given up TV?

I have cheerfully gone years without turning my TV on, without really realising. I just don't really naturally gravitate towards watching it- partly due to not really enjoying a lot of the content, and partly because you have to sit and passively watch it.

I listen to a good speech radio station (BBC Radio 4) quite a lot, as it has a reasonable amount of content that interests me- and you can do other things at the same time. It's much better when you're tinkering with electronics, playing a dungeoncrawler or cooking dinner.

Also, we didn't have a TV for some time when I was a kid. The world did not end.

These days, I watch a tiny bit of Netflix (probably not enough to justify the subscription) with my partner. There's no question of having to ration how much we consume; the problem is more often finding something to watch. I'm not sure if that's more about our combined taste or a comment on the awful Netflix interface, which isn't helpful for discovery and browsing. We also occasionally watch the odd programme on iPlayer, though that's more often used for on-demand streaming of radio programmes. For us, it's more effort to watch TV than not watch TV.

I will say this, though, Chromecast proved brilliant for occasional casual media consumption. Simple and effective. Not sure I would have been bothered with any video streaming solution that required a lot of effort to configure, given how lightly it gets used.
